I've got my '86 VF500 Interceptor heads off, and decided to do a valve job. Already re-faced the valves, but just read in the service manual that they can not be re-ground, but have to be replaced. Anyone know why? Have I just turned them all into junk? Buying 16 new valves costs more than I payed for the bike. Thanks.

Valve faces are coated with a hardener 'stelite' or something like that. grinding the valves removes this and the valves will burn at edges. Sorry time to look for new valves.
