    Hi there - first post!

I am currently trying to recover a 1984 VFR500 Interceptor that was left out in a Canadian winter by a friend of mine (it wasn't me - really). I have the carbs out and stripped down as far as the floats and needle valves. Everything is coated in a green algae like gunk that I am cleaning off as I go. My question is - how do I identify the part numbers for the replacement needle valves for the floats (I need 2) and the jets if I can't clean them?

I have seen parts available on ebay with numbers like 301 and 320 but can't find any reference in the handbook or on the carbs to guide me in buying the replacements.

Any tips or tricks would be great - it seems as if all the machine needs is a new battery, fuel filter and a damn good clean of the carbs!

    Thanks in advance, best wishes!

    AJ

Factory service manual has all the info you need. I'd post the relevant pages if i could.

Thanks for the reply. Where is the bast place to find the FSM? I have the Clymer Manual but it does not give part numbers and we do not have a Honda Dealer, or independent specialist, anyhwere nearby (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada).

Be sure the emulsion tubes go back in the same carb they came from as fronts and rears have different height holes, i think.

I always had a tough time getting the green stuff off. What I found works pretty well is soaking in PineSol. I use it straight but others have found it alos works mixed 50/50 with water.
