    Hello all,
    I have a 1991 vfr 750,
    *upgraded r/r to r1
*ground wire ran straight to battery
*ran great for about three days....
    ^stator stopped charging battery
^apparent on account of only 12.3v coming out of battery while running at 1000rpms
^tried new r/r that i had laying around... same issue
^went to start with fresh battery and starting box, did not start, would just turn over

I have sent it back to the shop that "rewired" the ground wire to have them fix their mistake. i am guessing it is a connector that is not working properly and/or something is grounded in that 'new rewire'. Was wanting to know if anyone here had a suggestion on what else could cause this?

Like a battery charger but puts out different voltage, and different amps for what you need.
Never got a chance to check 5000rpm.

Yes they all checked out fine, just in case I had replaced them as well.

Once again for probably the third time this week do " the Drill" Could the moderators here please make the Drill into a stick or somewhere easy to find so that every time somebody comes along with a charging failure, several times a week, they can be directed to it or they can find it themselves

Ok so do the drill again and give us some figures, just replacing the R/R doesn't tell us anything

I haven't even bothered mentioning soldering the wires yet, that is still to come. Could also be problems with the starter circuit as to why it is cranking slowly but that is another issue, we have proven charging problems and not sure starting problems. More input is required before we can give more answers

Yes I see your post above rjgit, it is at a shop, that doesn't mean they are going to fix it in the way we know the fixes need to be done, shops aim is to get it working by whatever means possible, get their money and get it out the door. By doing it yourself you can take a more methodical approach and do it how the best fixes have been worked out by forum members regarding a particular marque of bike. The fixes on a VFR may not fix a Kawasakai and few shops would follow any forum to see what the forum has worked out as fixes for known problems, they just do it how the book says and we know that isn't always the best method

we know that, but he can't do any of our good suggestions until he gets it back and actually tell us with facts to our well directioned questions is all I am getting at.
