Hello all. I used to be on this forum years ago, I've had a 95, 96 and 99 VFRs in the past looking to get one for my GF. Any suggestion for the best years to look at, staying as cheap as possible?

Welcome back. If you had a 99, you know the 5th Gen is the best ever.

Are you gonna ride bitch on your GF's bike?

LOL, no I have a BMW R1200RT. The 99 I had, bought brand new, was to "twitchy" on the throttle response and never got used to it. She had a 95 VFR and traded it off about 10yrs ago but still talks about how much she loved it. Looking at a 97 tonight on sale here in the classifieds, hope it turns out to be a nice one.

I've had a '90 , an "02 vtec, and currently have a beautiful yellow 5th gen 2000 model, which is the best of the 3. I can't speak for the late model versions.

Well I bought the 1997, one owner 28,190 mi and not a scratch on it. There are pics in the classifieds here. Needs tires, it runs a little rough and needs the clutch adjusted, also temp gauge doesn't work. Looks like new, no fairing cracks, seat cowl prefect shape. I'll get new tires, throw some carb cleaner into the tank and a new fuel filter before I look into the carbs. Any one know where I can get an aftermarket slip-on and a carb rebuild kit? Also, any thoughts on why the temp gauge not working?
Oh yea, there is a dent in the tank from th handle bar hitting it. The ding was hidden by a tank bra, I know I should have taken it off and looked, my bad.

Dammit, I didn't read that correctly... Faulty temp gage can be bad ground... Laker

Hi - I just bought a '94 RC/36II here in Switzerland with 54'000km ... loving it. It wasn't the first owner and I'm discovering little things as I ride (jerky feeling at low-RPMs), one low-beam is defect - high beams are fine, back tire might need to be replaced. But, overall I think a great deal (less than CHF1'000).

Got a picture of yours ??

I'll get some pics the next time I pull it out of the garage and have my phone with me, been raining a lot lately. Mine was running rough too, I siphoned about 1/2 quart of oil out of it and I added carb cleaner to the gas tank then filled it with higher octane gas. After about an hour of riding it did smooth out a bit and was able to set the idle back to where it should be and it still is smooth, also the temp gauge is now working?!?!? I adjusted all the suspension settings and I ordered 2 new tires. It's coming together nicely.
