Posting for a brother in our club. He owns a 2010 VFR 1200. He replaced a 5yr old battery w/new one and now has a small elect draw. After tracking it down to the "Hazard" fuse, he puled the fuse and draw was gone. Of course that would give him no blinkers or hazard. Any help would be awesome. He did mention that his blinkers have never "self-canceled" since he bought it 2 yrs ago. Lean angle, common issue, ? Thanks.

Why did he replace the battery? Was the old one dead or was it still performing its duty but this was a proactive move?

Your post sounds like a problem occurred after the battery was changed but did not occur with the old battery. Just the battery change should not cause an electrical short. Can you provide more detail to this series of events?

What is the value of the current draw? I do not want to assume that you know that three mA (.003 A) maximum draw while turned off is normal for any bike for the clock + wiring resistance.

I am trusting from your thread on VFRD that any self-cancelling issue is a red herring, and that the bike does not have that feature. Correct anything here that may be wrong.

Thank you for the help. My brother did replace the battery as a proactive measure.
We had no idea that the bike did not come equipped w/ self canx. He's only owned for 2 years and he is 75!
I don't know what the draw was, but it was enough to kill the battery after letting it sit for longer them 2 hrs after riding. He did a visual check and used a volt meter on various circuits. He told me when he pulls the fuse for the "hazard/turn" the draw stops.
These things are too high tech LOL

To measure the amps that it is drawing while off, it will be necessary to use a meter with 5-10 amp current capacity and put meter in SERIES with battery and bike. Voltage reading will not tell you anything.
