Just placed an order for an OEM rear luggage rack for my 6th gen VFR800. Not sure which top case to get yet, but I'm leaning towards the OEM case that matches my Italian Red paint. I can get an OEM for about $350, I like the pad, and the size of the case seems right. Anyone know how many liters in volume it is? or if two Shoei helmets can be carried in it? Pictures of it make it seem smallish.

Also, has anyone ever attempted to put a Givi case on a Honda rack? Does the mono-key design make it incompatible?

I attached the Honda rack today, looks EXTREMELY stiff! Not sure what to make of the metal plate that came with it though. Anyone know if it is required for the Honda top case? Now all i need to do is decide on a case. I want one that can hold 2 large full face helmets. It is either going to be the Honda 45 Liter OEM top case, a GIVI V47NN, or a Shad. I'd probably end up painting them to match my Italian Red so i'll need them to have a gloss finish. The V47NN has a hard panel that could easily be repainted i think except for the flat black one. Where on earth is all this flat-black stuff coming from? If anyone has any experience mounting a GIVI or a Honda case to the Honda rack please let me know, and some advice if you can including recommended part numbers etc. I can manufacture almost anything but I don't want to re-invent the wheel if i can help it.

Here's pics of the installed rack with the mystery plate:

Hey miles. Do you have the givi factory bags on the side. I do on my 02. I was also thinking of getting the rack for the top case. I still have the givi 46L from my old bike.

No, i have the Honda side bags and mounts, they came with the bike. Hoping to get some feedback from people who have had to deal with Honda side mounts and top case rack. I understand that the Givi rear rack can only be used with Givi side mounted cases. If you already have the Givi side cases, maybe a Givi rear rack would be a better option than the Honda rack.

I'm not sure of the volume, but know for sure I can fit two helmets in the OEM trunk.
As far as the plate go, I can take a bunch of pictures and send them to you if you like.

I like the look of the Honda 45L case, but they are hard to find and usually the wrong color. I passed on the one i saw on ebay, it had no key. All this makes me open to GIVI cases, the V47 is looking better all the time.

Mofo did you see my photo of the mount plate? It seems to be ready to accept an OEM case, but Honda has a B00 part that is a plastic base, not sure if it is needed in my case.

I did see it. The plastic base is needed, is where the case attaches to the base.

Thanks mofo, i'll keep that in mind as i research/locate a case and plate. When you can, send pics of your case with helmets, maybe one of the bottom plate too. I have 2 Shoei full face with Sena Bluetooth communicators. Some people say that getting 2 full face helmets in a Honda 45L case can't be done, maybe i'd have to place them exactly so in order to fit. The Sena makes getting them into the side cases no-go.

Hey miles. Honda doesn't make cases or racks. They are made bike Givi for honda. I have they givi 35 L side cases with the rack from givi for the 6th gen. The E52 and E55 top case holds 2 large helmets. I have the v46 and can get 1 med full face and a med open face in there. The side arms you have are the 166fz for the top rack. You will need the m5 plate for Monokey or m5m for monolock.
