Hey Guys, it's been awhile since I've been here, short explanation couldn't find much time to ride. I however am prepping the bike to ride again, so far I've changed manifold boots, coils and plugs. I have adjusted the chain and then had the bright idea to see how the adjustments are made...and then I flipped the adjuster for more ride height in the rear. I noticed however that I can only now use one bolt to secure the rear caliper to the bike, hence my question; has anybody done this mod? How safe is it? The engineer in me opines that there should really be no adverse effects but still.... I have searched this forum and another to see if anyone had done this in the past to no avail. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Much thanks.

take a picture, I did the rear rotor and had to dis-assemble the rear hub to do this, my high mileage unit I changed the rear pads on and they were barely worn, as I never really use them that much. The bike I changed the rotor on was rusted out to my tastes. Anyway, if your running the stock shock its basically garbage, I have a Fox and a Penske shock on both of my bikes.

I know its a honda think fiddily thing to do the rear brake pads, its funny and thoughtful how they made a hole in the chain guard to gain access to the allen bolt in the caliper :pound:

Hey man, thanks for responding. I took a pic and posted. Even without the second bolt, there seems to be a rigid triangle between the caliper, torque arm and PRO arm. I know the rear brake is hardly used if at all, but on a test ride last saturday it didn't seem any different to how it normally is(vague). But I am liking the increased ride height-no more scraping on speed bumps...

why dont you have a new carrier machined, thats what I did when I relocated after market rotors or rotors from another bike on a bike in question. There is someone in Germany that makes these ride height things for these bikes and other one, Thurn Motorsports maybe...I have this exact bike, very stud-ly paint job I must say, I have a black one as well :vtr2: I have an obssesion with this model. Stay cool and nice pictures, funny, I always just un-bolted the tank and walked away with it, I would use this method if I was dealing with an FI bike though, also got a nurse bottle to hook up if I want to run it. Cheers

Har har...actually that was my grandma's favourite colour. She's been gone about 6 years now and I haven't gotten a chance to repaint the wall. When the tank is propped like that, keep the fuel line connected and you won't need a nurse bottle, and I'll be looking into machining a new carrier. Keep riding pal...

My mother loves the black one, she refers to "it" as her bike :loco: You know I meant calipers not rotors on the above post. Started a new job and not riding there yet as I want to fit in before being known as the "motorcycle man." Stay kewel...
