Stacey, my black 98 5th gen, just ran a 5,100km, 2-week tour of northern Scotland, the Scottish Isles and the cities of England, without the slightest hiccup. Her rider (me) had to stop a couple times due to rain so heavy I couldn't see the highway or for need of a caffiene boost or becuz sheep were standing in the road, but Stacey soaked up every minute of it without a hitch. I love my 5th gen, and will certainly be going back to ride more of Scotland. Wow!!

That's all, just wanted to share another tale of VFR goodness

Sorry guys, I realize it's major douchebag points for failing to post photos, but I'm working this week in a corner of Germany that isn't big on witchcraft like the internet, I have to wait til I'm back on a good line. They're coming, I promise.

To answer Randy's question, I'm American, been here in Germany since late 2012. I'd been bikeless for a while when I moved, but it wasn't long before I got the itch again. Early 2014 I bought my RC51, currently undergoing surgery after we crashed at a trackday a few weeks back. I bought Stacey earlier this year, went around the 'what should I buy' circle for over a year before I decided on a 5th gen VFR.

Ok, finally a few pics of the ride. The scenery had me grinning like an idiot as we rode, really amazing landscapes. The lake photo toward the end is Loch Ness. No monster sightings, though. The pic of my dinner was a haggis pie. Can't tour Scotland without trying a haggis pie. I loved it, it's a really gamey flavor, and sorta like meatloaf.

i like my scotch with just a few drops of water added, it really brings out the flavor and mellows the smokiness. Yummy :courage:

Man that looks like fun! You go with special group and how do you go about getting your bike over there? I would like to do that and have some good spirits, haggis, black pudding and scotch eggs.

We had incredible luck with the weather, only a couple rainy days, and they weren't that bad. I had much more rain on the second half of the trip, after Scotland, while I visited Brighton, Liverpool, London and Dover. We had strong wind a lot of the time in Scotland, though, many times we were all riding leaned visibly into it just to go straight. The gusts made curves really interesting, too, kept us on our toes.

The trip was organized by a guy who does these tours as a side business, he had the routes and stops planned for us, all we had to do was enjoy the ride. Scottish Motorcycle Tours is his company. Great guy, he's done motorcycle tours all over the world and has written articles for magazines.

I rode from Frankfurt where i live to Calais France, took the ferry over to Dover, and went from there. Started in Brighton, headed north to Scotland, did the tour, then worked my way back south thru Liverpool, London, Amesbury and Dover, then took the ferry back across and rode back to Frankfurt. A few days were long boring highway days, but the rest was awesome.
