Hi all, bit worried. Just got a vfr750fp ( at least that what it says under the seat), there is some confusion about its year off manufacture. Just wanted to ask, everyone says that you need a 170/60 17 on the back however it come with a 180/55 17, is this ok or should I change it asap? Have to admit it doesn't feel quite right but it could just be me. Thanks in advance.

The 4 Gen (94-97) had a 170/60/17 as the rear wheel was a 5" width, the earlier 3 Gen and later 5 and 6 Gen models have a 5.5" width rear wheel and came with a 180/55//17. Although you can use different size tires either way, handling can be affected by this. What year is your VFR750? if it's in the 4 Gen year range, then you may want to swap to the 170 and see if that works better. Also, before doing that, verify that the air pressure both front and rear is at the recommended PSI.

hi well that's it it's an L reg in the UK (it's a parallel import) so that pitches it around 93/94 and under the seat it has the label 750FP which from what I can find out says its 1993, but it could be early 1994?. Checking tyre pressures tomorrow/Sunday and just for the inflator today.

Does it have the NACA ducts on the side panels? Actually, I should have asked the easier question, does your bike have 5 spoke wheel or 8 spoke. If it's the latter, then it would be a 3 Gen and that wheel is probably worth its weight in gold!

This would be a 4 Gen...

If that's the case a 180/55/17 should be the right size tyre. If you were so inclined to want to sell or exchange your rear wheel out for a 5 spoke 5" width wheel, I'm sure you'd have people knock...er, POUNDING on your door!
