When I apply my front brake I hear squeaking, but not the rough grinding sound when you need new brake pads. What would be causing this and what can I do to get it to stop? Thanks
are the pads new???? if yes, then maybe they need bedding in,find a quiet road and ride at about 25/30mph. with the brake just on,then do some really hard braking a few times,it might help.
Did you clean the inside of the calipers when you changed your pads? Possible your brakes got glazed over from contamination on the rotor, or excessively hard use before they were fully bedded in, or that you have irregular wear on your rotors. You could just removing the pads, getting some medium grit sandpaper and (using your hands only, no belt sander) scuff all of the pad really good, roughing them up, and install them again to try and rebed them....and you could maybe scuff your rotors up a little as well. I am gonna try doing this to my brakes pretty soon. I am having a different sound (almost a buzzing) on some brand new pads that I installed, however, I am not sure if this is because they are a different design, compound, or not bedded in yet. About 100 miles on them now.
