Hey I'm new to this site, but I was wondering about sprockets and chains for my VFR. I saw only 4 kits at www.sprocketcenter.com and I don't really know what to be looking for. I am trying to have a higher top speed but I still wanna have some quickness if possible. I just wanna be able to do 170-180 but not be beat by a 600 off the line. Sorry if I sound stupid, I'm just an 18 yr old lookin for speed :eek:nthego:

You can't have both high top speed AND quick acceleration. IMO if you want to go 180 mph and beat a 600 in a drag race you'd be better off trading in your VFR for a R1 or a Busa

Guess you could get a sprocket set up for track night and do the same for when your trying to dig 180 out of your bike. ( the latter isn't going to happen. ) The VFR was built for multi purpose. Its great on long hauls and touring with options for luggage, handles like a sport bike, and is quick/fast enough to keep up with liter bikes. The engine is pretty well rounded also. by no means is the Interceptor going to be a drag bike without many mods. Then its no longer a VFR. As said above, go get a busa to drag those 600s asses down the strip.

By the way, I hope you need for speed is on a road course or track. The streets are no place for racing. Don't be a statistic. There's a time and place. Get the gear to.

LOL - You don't have the horsepower to do 170, or 160, or 150...

You can change the sprocket, but that doesn't mean it has the power to overcome the change in gearing. Theoretically it would have a higher top speed, but I doubt the engine would do it, save your money.

Put the smallest possible sprocket on the back and the biggest one on the front. As the speedo is driven from the countershaft and not from the front or rear wheel, you'll get some fantastic top speed (readings) and best possible acceleration. YMMV!

Bigger gearbox sprocket will probably lower your top speed because the engine will run out of puff. Bigger sprocket will give you better cruseing revs but that is about it

Hopefully his bike breaks down before he takes a lnnocent life with his own. Put bbs in the oil. That makes it go faster.

Fixing the speedo dial on the newer bikes is gonna be tough. On the old style we used to just wind the dial past the last digits and hold it in place with Bondo.
