Does it show the tabs underneath? Should be three of them. I replaced mine a few years ago bit don't remember what I paid for it. I should have that info back at home but I won't be there for three weeks now.

Next you're going to tell me it won't fit a Sargent seat.

If you own a 5th gen, I can honestly say the seat cowl only fits if you remove the rear half of the seat. I do remember reading a thread a while ago when I was searching for a seat for my bike that the solo cover is supposed to fit over the Sargent seat on the 6th gens.

It does fit the Sargent well. It is more snug than the OEM seat but mine has worked well for several years. I broke a tab on the OEM seat some how.

Remember to get those felt pads to adhere to the backside of the rear of that thing if you get it. The felt pads wear down too but they are a couple cents apiece to replace periodically.

Well crap. I have a red one of these for 02 with a few very little scratches and the right side fairing too (think right side) that I was debating on whether or not I was ready to sell and if I should put them up on classifieds here. Previous owner of my bike lightly laid it over and barely scratched these two but just went and bought brand new fairing and tail piece instead of just repainting (think most would have just used touchup paint). Was not sure if there was any demand for that tail piece. Guess there is!

Your seat is probably all used up. I hear some of those shemales like to play rough.

There is a rubber front trim piece on the 6gen rear seat cowl, you may strongly consider getting one from dealer/ebay if not - my bike was repainted by the PO, and he didnt have it, and the cowl actually dug little marks into the rear fairing until he put on the rubber strip which lifted it a little and stopped the problem. YMMV

None has ever sat on the back part of the sargent seat. I don't think the vfr is really very good for two passengers, I was thinking of cutting the rear peg mounts off to save a little weight but I just leave it alone-you might be right about that trim piece-I didn't like how it fit. I just for looks so I see no real reason to bother with the cowl, bare seat looks fine any way-the sargent looks better than stock seat which I had cut down and is now not too good.

As you have seen Rob, the cowl fits fine on the Sargent seat. It does fit tighter but it fits well enough to stay put for several years. Never gave that trim piece much thought though. But ya. If that is missing, you are going to want to replace that with something. Even a carefully trimmed piece of bicycle inner tube glued on with contact cement would work. Actually probably work better because that factory stuff does separate from the cowl.

So, that it $91.00 including shipping The new ones come with the trim piece.

When I think of it, I did heat up those tabs and gently bent them inwards a bit so that the tabs fit tighter over the posts under the seat. Where the cowl fits tight is in pushing the cowl over the rear seat area until the posts reach the holes on the tabs.

About $88 +/- from Partzilla.com. Different part #'s & listings for color options, so yes for factory colors.

Practice Tip - never use a tail bag with your seat cowl in place. The bag might mar the cowl and/or the mounting straps might push the seat cowl down so hard that the seat cowl abrades the rear cowl.

BTW, despite SOW's assertion the seat cowl fits fine on a Sargent seat.
