Just placed order for my bags and also bough the liners. Got bags for 800+tax and liners fro 64+tax. I was told that they are in a local warehouse which means that I wil have them by mid week ... so something to do on the weekend. Based on the previous post I will have a "fun " time.

But the way ... just coming back to riding after more than 8 weeks off caused by a bicycle vs car accident resulting in a clavicle farcture with a nice plate and 6 screws so you can say I am screwed... . . By my ortopedist I should not be riding but VFR needs to be ridden from time to time even with a plate in the shoulder.. ...

Will let you know how it went and maybe post some pictures...

Take them to your local Honda shop for installation and pay them whatever they want! Pay them double but for the love of God, do not install them yourself!

Install them yourself. You'll feel like you accomplished something

Besides, at somepoint you may want to take them back off

You wouldn't want to let some stupid Honda rack out smart you, right?

Well, I have less confidence now but will give it a try... honda delaer is only 9 miles away.. I will give them the secons chance if I fail... or give up. On my previous motorcycel (DL650) I installed all hardware by myself so not totally new to it but you guys just put the fear on me so will see how it goes....

I have believe you can do it... it is just screws and nuts. Most guys are familiar with these. So just go slow, and keep things loose until it is all together. Test fit the parts where they say to drill... the holes on my 07 passenger footpegs didn't need to be drilled out. No special tools or tricks.

My experience with the factory bags was that everything fit together perfectly...once I got the parts in the correct spot. It should get frustrating at some point for you...but just keep trying. If it turns out not to ever be frustrating... don't tell us  'cause I don't wanna know.

If you go slow and have the time, it will work. Good luck!

If you are looking for hard bags you should, at least, take a look at David Silver Spares on the web. He's in England. I don't have the website, but he is easy to find with a google search. I got a set of New Red Honda Bags with mounting hardware for my 03'. They were delivered to Oregon 7 days after placing the order. The total was $540 including shipping. He may not have all the colors, but I remember seeing Red, Silver, and Black. This was back in April 07'.

    The bags are on....

 well the bags are on .. it looks cool . The bike looks good even without the bags the bracket is really close to the frame, bends under the exhaust. Now about the install... I started at 6:37 and at 7:53 the bags were on.

It was lots of nuts and bolts but followed some advice as just put the bolts in, left the rear fender realy loose and started from the fender to the grab rails and the passanger pegs... than went over every scerew and tighten it than repeated and checked/tightened all nuts again.

We are all so proud of you.

Now the hard part is not getting them scratched since the ass end of the bike has gotten much wider.... walking the bike back out of a parking space now takes some glances in the mirrors for me.

I have ordered the hard bags from my Honda dealer and will get them to do the install however I have installed a Werkes Fender Eliminator Kit. What kind of problems will I have, and would the dealer go ahead with the install if there is no stock fender?

The reinforced fender bracket (#4) is a support point you cannot do without. It will bolt on without the fender itself in place but pretty much negates the reason to have the eliminator kit....
