I just got home from work and drove my bike into my garage. I remembered last time I had filled it up I thought I heard air rushing out or into my tank when I opened the fuel cap. I am down to 1/2 a tank and decided I should open it again and check it.
I opened the fuel cap on the tank and the air had to equalize. there was quit a sound.
I am guessing there is an air vent somewhere with a pinched hose or its blocked.
What are your thoughts before I tilt that tank and take a look.
    Thanks in advance
    Dan

Your thinking appears to be on the money. Check the hose routing by lifting the tank and go from there...certainly shouldn't be any hissing etc

If I recall correctly there was a vent hose on the tank that runs down the right side of the frame near the exhaust. My 2000 VFR had the same issue after I first purchased it and I discovered that the rubber vent hose was too. Close to the exhaust and had melted itself shut. It also melted the fuel overflow hose to the point it had a large hole in it. I replaced both hoses and everything was fine. Not sure if both hoses are supposed to run down that side but that is where they were when I bought the bike.

thanks guys, I just went out and as soon as I started to loosen the bolts to tilt the tank back I heard pressure coming out. I Guess the air vent hose was not properly routed and was getting pinched between the tank and the top of the air box. I rerouted it and will give it try tomorrow. I am pretty sure I got it though.
You were right zoom-zoom they do run down the right side..
I love this site............... everyone here so awesome !!!!!
