I installed a Delkevic stainless steel exhaust a month and a half ago. The reason being is that the oem exhaust had developed a rather massive exhaust leak. I discovered it about a year ago when I had the swingarm off for routine servicing. At the time I had tried to patch it with a product called quick steel that I got from the local auto parts store. I don't recomend this as the patch blew off within about two weeks.

The bike didn't suffer any noticeable performance problems so i put replacement of the exhaust on the back burner until I began having starting problems and low voltage.

The culprit. I had predicted that this may happen but I didn't truely appreciate how bad I had roasted my battery until I pulled it from the bike. Btw I was able to warranty this battery: "I have no idea what happened it just melted..."

So I ordered up a Delkevic off of their ebay store. I had read some mixed reviews on this site and others regarding the Delkevic headers; some people have had issues with fitment. Luckily mine installed more or less without issue. The only fitment concerns that I have noted are the centerstand stop and one of the rear down pipes mking contact with the left hand fairing. The center stand stop positions the stand too low when it is retracted. It could cause ground clearance issues, especially when taking hard left had turns. I just bent this up and out of the way since the pipe leading to my can has a centerstand stop. As for the fairing, I just rode it normally and after the first week the header had mealted the perfect curved cut into the fairing. I just cleaned it up a bit with a file when I saw that it wasn't going to melt anymore. Problem solved.

The hardest part of the whole job was removing the oem exhaust.

    The leak

I was unable to remove the component parts so i took the whole unit off.

It then took me three days, half a can of pb blaster, some skinned knuckles, and lots of pounding, prying, wedging, etc to seperate the highmount exhaust pipe from the headers. (Sadly I don't have access to torch)

    The finished product.

All in all, I am satisfied with the Delkevic system. It went together easy enough, doesn''t leak, looks good, and sounds great. Delkevic's customer service was pretty good too. They hadn't sent instructions with the headers but I called them up and had a pdf file in my email within 5 minutes. Now I just need to install stainless steel brake lines and I think I can stop wrenching on her...

Is it just the photo or does that rear header seem to be sitting outside the lines of the fairing in the last pic ?

It looks like it would drag on the road when cranked hard to the right hand side

    Just curious not being critical

It does stick out slightly from behind the fairing but not enough to be a concern. It follows a slightly different line and is more straight in the visible section under the rh foot peg than the oem exhaust.
