I have a Garmin e-trex legend GPS, and I need to find a mount which will work (or a way to mount it) for my 1998 VFR800. I tried buying the Garmin bracket, however I wasn't thinking when I did so because the is no spot on the handlebars for me to mount it. Does anybody have any mounting ideas? I thought I heard of one that mounts on the center triple clamp nut. Anybody have any info?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jason

I looked for the type mount you're talking about, I never found it. I ended up buying the ram mount ball with a 1/4 x 20 stud for a mount. Take the cap off the triple tree and mark the stem length of the triple clamp. Then go down to home depot and buy a piece of 3/8 or 1/2 inch aluminum round stock, cut to length and drill and tap the ends. Put a couple washers on the end. I'll take some pictures of the one I made, its been working well for me thus far.

Look on eBay for tank mount. They offer a mount that bolts to the existing gastank cap outer ring and rises up and forward. No drilling no modifying anything. Bolt and go. Runs about $45 or so. Metal construction with powder coated. Look for item 220126882008

    Aluminum

Just carved up a drawing and going to build my own out of aluminum instead of steel. Will look more natural.
