Hey new to the group I just bought a 2002 VFR 800 with 5100 miles on it. Just wondering with the age of the bike should I go ahead and change spark plugs or anything that this point. The bike runs great just wanted to get some opinions.

Well, any maintenance records? Check the tire dates..that year had a recall...call local Honda stealership and they should know by your vin# if it was handled.
Oil, filter---->(if sitting for a while critters like to make them selves at home), coolant, hows the chain? Hopefully it was in good hands.....oh pictures or it didn't happen and
    Welcome to the mad house.

The guy I bought it from had to have some work done to it when he 1st bought it I believe fuel filter and a few other things. The 1st owner let it set for a few years before selling. Tires were original so I put a set of Michelin pilot road 4's it rides great now. I have to say I am impressed with how well it handles I was riding a 2012 Triumph Street Triple R before this and i believe the vfr has it beat by a good bit.

The iridium plugs, if that's what was used, last a long time and would be up for changing at 32000. When buying a used bike I typically flush/fill all of the fluids, oil, coolant and clutch/brake, just to be sure they are all fresh. This also includes changing the oil and air filters. The fuel filter resides inside the gas tank and is rarely an issue and it sounds like it was replaced recently anyway. Tires would also be one of the first as well and you've done that. The PR4 is a good tire by the way and you should have many miles to go on them.

One warning for you if you are a DIY'er, bleeding the brakes on the linked brake VFRs does require a certain process and it's outlined online and in the Honda Service Manual. If you would like a copy send me a PM and I can send a link to one I have in my Dropbox folder, as the link here isn't working anymore and seems to be hard to find.

Oh yeah, Welcome toThe World! Congratulations too.

    Cheers

Love mine too. You will definitely have a great time with it. As mentioned, see if recalls were done. I have not done yet and mine has the wiring sub-harness and proportioning valve to be done. Valve seems okay so not too worried about it but the wiring harness is concern as I do not want dealer to scratch bike up and put back together wrong. Anyway, that is another story. See below link and type in vin number and see if you need to have recalls done. Enjoy the bike.
