Hi. Brand new to the board and to VFRs. Currently building an 86 to go vintage roadracing with next season. I'm interested to know if anyone else out there is racing a vintage VFR? From reading the other posts I know the wheel swap issue is a frequent topic. I've already mounted a Hurricane front wheel on the bike, did I read somewhere that the Hurricane rear wheel is also a direct swap? And a VFR800 shock? I would appreciate any information you can provide about this or any other useful performance mods. Thanks in advance.

Here's a link to the conversion info:

The hot setup is to use the F2 front end and wheel as well as the F2 rear to get tire size up to 160. Can sell you a complete package with forks, brakes, steering clamps, clip ons, and VFR800 shock for $500.00. Chuck Crites at Cobalt Racing in Ohio is the real master of the early VFR; you should look him up.

Be careful on hurricane rear wheel. I bought front and rear from a 600 hurricane and the rear is totally wrong. The rear from a cbr1000 from the same era (1987-1990) looks to be the same after a bit of research. Make sure you get the rotor with the wheel you buy coz they're about $160 to get new. The front wheel will fit and use your VFR rotors if you want. for all the trouble, look up chuck crites and get a kit to go to F2 gear. His E-Bay id is VFRchuck. i have an old E-mail address somewhere but there's no response to that one. good luck
