I recently bought a PC III USB (with O2 elims) for my 06 VFR. I immediately noticed a stronger pull in all gears but at the same time noticed that there were some "side affects". I am running the PC map with stock exhaust/filter, and Accelerator Pump on using suggested settings from PC.
#1- When shifting (using the clutch) during WFO acceleration, after the shift I go to roll on throttle the bike lurches while the engine tries to catch up. It's like the revs are still up there but they're not making power for a split second.
#2- The bike likes to stop running after throttle blips or when trying to start rolling from a dead stop.
#3- Idle seems to be slower than w/o the power commander installed. (perhaps contributing to #2?)
I know the first thing everyone wants to say is to practice clutch work and this is different than all my other bikes, but I'm no noobie. You could take ten average riders the same age I am and I still have more experience riding/wrenching/reading/watching motorcycles than all of them combined. I am behind the power curve in the PC department because all the other bikes I currently own make enough power that I have never used one before. I want to get custom tuning done but recent (and very awesome) events have sapped funds for the exhaust, etc.
Thanks for all the replies in advance.

I'd remove the Accelerator Pump software and just go with the stock map and see if you can isolate the issue to either the PC III mapping or the Accelerator Pump mapping.

I had a similar prob with two of the maps I used on my 5th gen. I finally ended up going with the stock cali map and it runs fine there so far. I'd like to get it prfessionally mapped, but I have way too many other priorites...

Other Priorities are the killer with me too. My RVF is going in for EPA emissions compliance testing, $2500:scared: . but once that's done she's legal for CA!

Yes. Just rename it from .txt to .DJM

These maps??? What is that something to download into the PC to program it/tune it? I would like to get one but I have issues with moving around and people knowing what they are doing. I would like to be able to tell them or at least know what they are telling me. I want to add one and an air filter (K and N) but I don't want too much hassle. That is about all I will do to my 06 VFR, the rest will be vanity. I also want to avoid performance issues like the above had when he first added the PC. Thanks.

I talked to a guy who does dyno setups for racing and street bikes alike. This guy is the absolute genius and he rides a VFR. He said that correct dyno tuning will make the response and power all the way across the curve. I watched how he does it on another bike today. You could hear and see the visible difference before and after. He said to buy the power commander, install it, then bring up to him to custom map it.

Quick question. You definitely need the O2 eliminators with the PCIII on an '06 VFR? I am going to use a stock air filter with LV slip on exhaust.

The PCIII website states the O2 eliminators are necessary on CA and some overseas bikes.

    Thanks in advance!!

Would this map likely suit an 05 with stock exhaust and filter, or are they radically different from year to year?

No, the VTEC engagement point changed for model year 2006 on. You'll need a map designed for 2002-2005 model years.
