Fairing pieces are small enough that you can find a very, very reputable body shop and just ship the pieces to be re-painted.

Thanks for the recommendation! I requested a quote from them, but I'd imagine that shipping will come out to $500 by itself both ways :distress:

I had my brother sit on the bike and operate the brakes. The rear caliper doesn't seem to move at all, from what I've researched it seems like it could be the secondary master. If the rear was frozen it probably wouldn't work at all, but there might be some blockage somewhere.

I'm also looking for some smoked front turn signals, but the only ones I've been able to find were pretty expensive and from Germany. Is that all thats available?

Sorry to hear - but man, the yellow is legendary! Everyone knows its the fastest color, but only those of us that own the yellow admit to it. If you remove the yellow and go naked, you will forever be slower. Don't do eeet.

I rolled the bike out to the street and threw it on the center stand to look something over, and my neighbors just started coming over one by one. One even thought it was a brand new bike (With the missing fairings lol) and all thought its gorgeous. The yellow stays :smug:

My phone picks up zero damage, it looked a lot worse in person- but still not bad in the grand scheme of things. I was also considering trying a Delkevic SS70 high mount, but everyone seems to say that the Staintune I have is best. It sounds great and is the perfect volume, but it seems like it mellows out the tone a bit from what I'm hearing on youtube clips. The Delkevic sounds like it has the most bark + has the sound closest to an SBC/ Stock car, but seems like it'd be a lot louder. I also don't like long mufflers appearance wise, I might just order a Delkevic to compare and sell whatever I like more.

Keep the skins on the bike. Not a fan of a naked modern bike. Also you can see the damage via pics from far so that's good.

My thoughts on the brake problem is that it isn't as a result of the bike being dropped

In my mind irresponsible friend dumps it, irresponsible pays for it OEM or otherwise not trying to be a hard ass just the facts....It was his dumb ass antics that caused all the damage after all. :hangme:

Such a sad thread should have never happened in the first place :hss:

PS/ I mean anybody, a motorcyclist especially knows that gravel is not your friend on two wheels. Make him pay for his mistake lesson learned on both sides...

    I would be livid!!!

I hear ya, and I agree. Both of us feel awful, him even moreso. He offered me 2 grand flat out, I told him I'd get back to him once I know how much things will cost to repair.

This brake system is kicking my ass though, I'll take the rear caliper off tomorrow and see if its sticking or not. I need to pick up a new pressure bleeder since I lost my Mityvac.

I can't tell you how many people I've let ride my last bike (2006 FZ6 that was a beautiful Triumph street triple lookalike) and I suppose I was reckless letting that happen. To be honest I really wanted to hear the exhaust note as the Viffer was going down the road lol. Lesson learned, I'll be much more selective of who I let touch my bikes in the future.

Not sure of how well these are but worth a look.. http://www.nicecycle.com/Honda-VFR-800-Fairings-s/97.htm

I'm sure your friend wasn't doing anything crazy to cause the mishap...sh1t happens. I'm wondering if a small piece of gravel is lodged between the pads? Or on the linkage to the rear master cylinder? Crack the bleeder and see if you can press on the pedal then.

Great paintwork and design by the dude that Norcalboy suggested. Paintjobs like that for your bike will be damn near what the bike is worth.

Sort of like using a whole bag of charcoal to toast one weenie.

Guys lets move on from the fairings please, I'm not buying any aftermarket pieces. Thanks for the suggestions though :)

Either I'm lucky enough to find pristine OEM yellow fairings to swap out with ASAP or I have the whole thing painted. I found a highly recommended and reasonably priced paint shop 1.5 hours away, waiting to hear back with an estimate. Considering what their pricing generally is, I was even considering going with a custom job. Maybe a race livery, or something different like olive drab/ military style. But most likely I'll stick with the OEM yellow, I like it- everyone seems to like it to. The bike is definitely a crowd pleaser.

I wish there were sliders/ race rails you could bolt on that wouldn't require cutting the fairings. I guess I'll have to take it easy doing moto gymkhana :witless:

Don't give up on perfect OEM bodywork! It'll show itself to you. I recently turned down a fairing for a 1984 Honda VF750F Interceptor. My damaged fairing is not damaged to badly either, and his was a different color. Someone else on the forum scooped it, I believe.
