Been thinking about removing and replacing the stock grips but before I do I would like to hear from those that have and what they replaced them with.

What did you replace them with and why?

The bars are 7/8". Get some that have open ends to make it easier on yourself. That way you don't have to cut them all jagged like I did.

Renthal firm compound original series. Been through a couple of sets and wouldn't use anything else to be honest - but then I like my grips hard, tis what suits you really. It seems lotsa guys like soft gel grips or even waffled mx style soft grips...

    Thanks for the input

Since the VFR 800D comes with factory heated grips I am screwed; not unless I wanted to lose that function

"ol school Factory Honda dirt bike/flat track are pretty much identical to Scott's originals. Been gripping since 1984 for about a 100 bucks and same tube of RTV Orange. However, my gloves go for about $250, 2-4 seasons depending on how many downs I take.

i use 'grip puppies' they're foam and fit over stock, heated grip works fine and it adds just the right amount of cushion, i've used them on all my bikes over the years.

Oxford Heaterz (Touring) for me ... but I also live in a much colder climate for the early / late seasons. :)

Another +1 for Grip Puppies - I thought the stock heated grips were a bit too hard; slide them puppies on and quite satisfied. Heated grips still work fine and the slightly larger diameter grip is comfy for the long haul. Plus they're cheap and they're not permanent if you don't like them.
