I just bought a 750 from storage. It was sitting,I was told,2 years inside. So I got it home and drained the tank filled it up with 91 octane and some stp carb cleaner NOT fuel injector cleaner. It runs but has no power or pick up to it. The carb diaphrams seem to be moving up and down with the throttle. How can I tell it they are bad, and how difficult is it to clean the carbs?? Do you have to re-synchronize them afterwards?? I am a car mechanic not much on bikes yet,but I have done some overhauls and clutches on dirt bikes. This v-4 looks a little more intimidating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Before you go tearing into the carbs, look inside the tank for rust. If there is any then pull it and clean it out and change the filter. Also check for trash in the airbox, you might have a rat's nest in there. I've also seen the fuel/resrv get clogged with rust.

Did it run before being put into storage? also could be the plugs...

I checked th tank when I drained it. It did have a little sediment in it.The filter is clean, fuel flows free, no nest in the airbox, and I installed new plugs before I started it up. Yes it suposedly ran perfect before it was parked. Maily I need to know if I go into the carbs will I have to take it back to my honda dealer and have them re-synchronized. That is something I have never done or have the tools to do it.

Fuel pump is pumping fuel but, how much I don't know. Seems to put out a pretty good stream. I paid $1200 for it off e-bay talked the guy into selling it early for that price.Body was rough, clutch master needs replaced and obviuosly the thing doesn't run the greatest YET!! I had one just like it 15yrs ago so I know how it should run.

Good to hear another bike is being saved. I have had good luck with a product called seafoam to clean out gummed up carbs.

They just stared carryin seafoam at my local Kragen's. If you don't have a Kragen's then another local auto parts store should offer it. worst comes to worst, I'll go buy some and ship it to you for whatever it costs me....

I took off the carbs today and it's amazing it even ran. Each one of the bowls had rust and sediment surrounding the main jets. After a GOOD cleaning and re-installing them it runs GGGGGRRRREAT!!!! Now to start saving the fairings and other stuff. Thanks for all the input.
