California has tighter emission restrictions than the other states. So therefore sometimes there are cars/motorcycles that will ONLY be allowed in other states besides california. That's why they call a normal car a 49 state because, well, you can own it anywhere except for california.

Here's a little linky to provide info: http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/NonCAVeh/NonCAVeh.pdf

I checked oot www.superman.com to see if they could shoot me some Xray vision on all the conditions of the traffic lights at that intersection. With the names of the streets, Google street view might show that the traffic signal lights are the type that indicate, with a green arrow that a left turn has right of way. With the red light showing on the riders vid and the vehicles making left turns how in the hell can anyone save Superman of course, say that the vehicles that made the left in front of the bike guy were in violation?

When the bike guy's light went green and he accelerated, damn right the dude in the car ran the light. The other cars? Nope.

This is why we have courts and judges and witnesses and detailed reports so that the old sympathy vote shit get kicked under the bus.

I'd say fuck Superman too but I'm a big fan and he can fly.

I'd be getting really detailed info from all parties on this deal.. including is the bike in Texas still in the original shipping crate and if the dealer has any real experience that can be verified that the shipper/hauler gives a rats ass about cargo.

Another thing aboot Texans is that they all have brown eyes cause they're full of shit. ;)

Joey is right on the money. You need to have at least 7500+ miles on an out of state non Cali bike to register it in Cali. (Couple exceptions). Depending on the mileage where there's a will there's a way. If it is close enough, have the seller write over 7500 miles and ride it (with insurance) until the mileage catches up.

I believe most newer bikes are all 50 state compliance now anyways.

    Cheers,

$7900 vs $9500. I found two (Temecula & Whittier) priced at $8999 but they would not budge one inch even with me paying cash. The guy in Temecula almost got a ear full when he said the best he could do "out the door" is $12,020. How the hell he got to $12K from $8999 is beyond me so I just said thanks and hung up.

See above - I beat ya :drunk:

That part of the road is 3 lanes and the freeway is accessed from the #2 and #3 lane. As I was in the #1 lane, I was checking to make sure it was clear before I merged. I actually paused when the light turned green and the Tacoma and Civic were in the intersection. I could tell the Nissan pick up was going to take the light and had plenty of distance from him. No way in hell did I expect someone FOUR car lengths behind the red light to also try and take it. If you slow down the video you can see that I had just turned on my blinker. And if you pause it at the right moment, you can actually SEE his red light in my mirror.

I'm hoping it's not a 49er. Had to go through that BS 7500 mile crap when I got my 07 VFR from Penn. Mind you I put on that 7500 faster then I though but if I can avoid that, I would. If not, I know the way to San Diego, Vegas, Sequoia and San Fran by hard and my brother in Washington is back from his 4th tour in the Stan so I'm sure he'd love to see me :triumphant:

    ***UPDATE***

This kinda seals it chance of rain for Friday jumped from 20% to 60%. Texas is a big ass state and with really bad weather for more then half the trip (Marshall through Abilene), I'm going to have to have her shipped. Was planning on hitting up about 5 or six BBQ joints too. Damn sure I'm disappointed on missing out on that.

I had my last bike shipped from PA with a company I found on UShip.com and didn't an issue except for some minor damage to the front cowling due to it rubbing against the handle bar of another bike. The guy felt really bad and offered to waive 75% of the shipping (about $350 of the $475 total) but as we all know, that front cowl is pricey. I paid the full shipping fee and his insurance paid for the cowl and the labor (or should I say my Leo pipes:playful:)

Thanks for your input guys and if it turns out to be a 49er, if anyone is in the LA or San Diego area and want to ride let me know.

Waving cash in front of franchised dealers is not a great idea. They want that financing and all the extra pesos that they get by charging interest. This goes for banks, credit unions ect.

The game is to let the "friendly" sales dude feed you all the bullshit reasons that whatever the fuck you are buying is the greatest thing since canned mashed potatoes, why financing is painless and by financing you will secure your spot in the afterlife. Then at the last minute before you take pen in hand, change your mind, and walk. The sales dude will shit a brick. That's the time to flash your roll..

Route South to San Antonio for some barbacoa, from there to El Paso (boring stretch and crappy scenery)

Best bet? If you change your mind, aboot shipping, pop for a R/R.. for under your seat.

I had plotted two routes where I could hit two joints per day. Franklin was a top priority but all my hopes and dreams are now washing away.

Call me dumb but what's a R/R for under my seat?

If you put a spare R/R under your seat you will never break down and need one on the side of the road

Honda VFR's have a history of regulator-rectifier failure. They are never going to own up to that and asking a dealer aboot it with get ya BS'd in most instances. They will be happy to sell ya an OEM spare.

Search around on this site or the other sites for more than you really want to know... Fixes go back to 1991 and probably before. Aftermarket is the way to fly and at that save the working OEM R/R under your seat.

Bottom line is when one fails you stop and stay stopped.

I've heard that in the past but I've had a 05 put 17000 on her and 2 07s, put 15k and 31K on each and never had an issue. Maybe just lucky?

It is really not the miles you put on them, age certainly takes its toll with unseen corrosion inside the connector, type of weather conditions you live and ride in also have a bearing on how the corrosion sets in, problem is you really can't see it so most ignore it till a problem develops

The bottom line is still the bottom line and I'm sticking to that story. There are and could be several things that happened or did not happen or things that failed or not but when the R/R craps out, you stop.

The history speaks for itself in many posts.

Well with the 20/20 goggles in place I think that Saceur made the correct decision to ship his bike given the epic rain (tragic) that they have had in Texas the last couple of days. Hopefully the transport truck didn't get washed away! Enjoy your new ride when it arrives :eagerness:
