I was really wanting to Speed Triple as well but I saw that the 12k mile service costs $1000 at the dealer. So decided to get a Viffer with honda reliability (I know the valve check are expensive here too) till I can afford Triumph maintenance.

Had a Monster and loved it. I don't understand the fuss about maintenance. The Monster was one of the easiest bikes to service and the VFR the most complicated (just did the valve job). Monster is not good for long distance travelling but fun to ride around. I wish I had both.

Must say that would be high on my wish to test ride list, haven't seen the KTM 1290R yet but did ride with a guy on a Superduke 990 who made fast riders on GSXR1000s look slow through tight Mountain twisties.

Not that my opinion matters -specially since I've never owned a ducati- but those monsters are Fuugly. Carry on.
I'll be happy to take your VFR off your hands for the right price though.
