So I have an insurance payout coming from someone hitting my parked bike, and it's looking like it might be bigger than I expected. If it is, I'm going to slap some new cans on my '09. My preferred pipes would be Leo Vince, but they seem impossible to find anymore. I really like the look of the Delkavic's, but have heard they are insanely loud. I'd consider Two Brothers, but I have heard the same about them and I am ambivalent about their look. Can anyone comment on making the Two Brother's quiet enough for road use? Should I just suck it up and invest in the Remus cans? Can anyone comment on the weight saving of the Remus cans, since their website says nada?

Need some help! Stupid Leo vince...

There are a number of different choices with the Delkevic's. They are NOT all loud, plus they're really cheap for how well they're made.

I recently installed Two Bros Black Series CF slip ons. Obviously this is very subjective, but I found them too loud for the kind of bike a VFR is (supposedly a "gentleman's" sport touring bike). Two Bros very conveniently has an accessory Powertip which they will happily sell after you have already paid for a pipe just so they can grind another 40 or 50 bucks out of you. In this day and age of the public and law enforcement complaining about loud pipes, I didn't like having to pay extra to get the bike muffled down another 7 or 8 decibels for arguably what it should be to begin with for street use, but I am now happy with the volume and sound, and I think most enthusiasts would say it sounds good and most everyone else would say it's not obnoxious. I can ride it in a way that does not attract unwanted attention most of the time and I can make it howl if I want to. I know I could tour with these without the noise driving me crazy.

I test rode another guy's VFR when I was shopping for mine and he had Delkovics with no baffles and they were stupid loud. To make matter's worse, he hadn't bothered with any power commander or fuel re-mapping so it screamed AND ran like shit.

As background, I've had lots of bikes and lots of aftermarket pipes. A nice part of the V4 is they don't have that "arrest me now" wailing sound that the I4 makes on WOT, plus there's enough mid-range torque that you can short shift all day and stay stealthy.

I have the Two Brother mufflers and for the minimal price they can be had for buying the extra tip if you really need it isn't a killer

But remember only one muffler is actually in use (right hand side )

They look good in my book some would question the quality (not me) but I had a complete 2 bros system on a CBR900rr fireblade many moons ago and it was faultless for over 185,000 km's of abuse

On the Vfr they can seem loud at the early hours or in a quiet suburb but in a city they compete with all the other noise or even on the hi-way ( hopefully you wear earplugs anyway ) you can barely hear them

You can even enjoy setting every car alarm off in a car parking building

I got mine delivered to Australia for under $580 including freight ( mine are alloy and are not tinny or raspy sounding )

I'm new to this forum, and I too am looking for a good slip on for my '99 VFR. Price is an issue. Too, I've got to be able to keep the center stand. Thanks in advance for the information.

THanks for the input guys, I'll keep it in mind. I listened to a clip of the Remus cans though, and I think I'm in love.

Remus carbon fiber Viper dual port can is on my 3rd gen. Great sound, awesome looks. Remus is also lifetime guaranteed.

I also like Blue Flame and Yoshimura dual port cans.

Yes, I think the single dual port can belongs on a VFR.

I have a Delkavic on my 1200. It is the 14" carbon fiber one. It has a nice rumble at idle,at higher rpm it has a nice sound without being annoying. I don't use the silencer, and my bike has the cat removed. I really like the sound of it,and the price is right. You won't be disappointed with it

Annnnnnnd Remus' cans are discontinued for the 6th gen as well. This is getting ridiculous. Why are these companies discontinuing parts for the MOST common VFR?

Does it bother anyone else that the Two Brothers exhaust is designed to use one can for the exhaust and the other a dummy can?? Man, I just don't understand the thinking behind that design.

No body is stopping you fitting 2 x cans Two Bros or otherwise to the stock up pipe
maybe $50 welding/pipe charge at the muffler shop if you prep the stock pipe (cut off the mufflers ) and you do the labor of removing and refitting to the bike

Two Bros claim an increase in torque using the one pipe system and supply 2 mufflers to balance the look of the bike

It concerns me more that Honda put 2 excessively heavy garbage cans on the rear of the bike in the first place especially since the left one hardly flows anything anyway

If you have ever removed the stock system you will know how heavy they are

The weight reduction easily outweighs whether both cans work or not and you can take the left muffler off if you want to take even more weight off the back of the bike

And you can feel the weight reduction from up high on the bike when pushing it

and aren't we only after the noise with slip on mufflers ? If we wanted more horsepower we would all be chasing a complete cat free race header system

Sooo, would there be a problem with using one can from say, a CBR? Forgive my ignorance. I ask because I'm late to the dance on aftermarket exhaust as well.

Has anyone taken a 6th gen and put a single side mounted pipe on it and smoothed the rear out with fiberglass or something? All that weight would be low then. I guess they have:

I would love to see the rear of a bike with the rear seat cowl modified into one piece to clean up the lines left over from the exhaust removal. I like the single side exhaust.
