My left grip get loose when it gets wet from rain or a bath. What have you used that works? I tried hairspray, worked temporarily. I even tried silicone gasket sealant and that too worked temporarily. Now, I am back to the same issue. What should I use?? WHat works for you? Once a grip starts slipping, is it time to get new?

3M Super trim cement or DAP (Weldwood) Contact cement. Apply a coat of the contact cement to the inside if the grip with a swab, let it dry or tack up. Apply a coat to the bar. Work fast...If you screw it up the solvent is toluene.

Shouldn't be necessary if there is no residue. Decent grips can be had so cheaply I'd just replace.

Agreed on the new grips. I know someone who replace his with motocross type grips. They are fatter and a lot more comfortable on the hands. The route I will take when the time comes. slovfr, a member here, showed me a trick for removal and install using compressed air. Just a blast of air between the grip and bar and the grips go on and off lickity split.

What if the grips he likes were given to him by his grandfather who saved his dog from drowning and then died of cancer the next day?

I used hairspray on my off road bikes years ago but I also used safety wire to secure them. The last set of grips I bought from Cycle Gear I picked up some grip glue and it seems to work pretty good. Here again I also safety wire them for good measure.

What if the new grips slip that were given to him by his dying great grandmother slip away like she did after giving him her last set of grips before she went to meet Jesus and there was a run on glue grip and safety wire.

I wonder instead of hairspray, mousse would work.

Ya know how they say.. To take it easy for aboot a hundred miles on new rubber to scuff off the parting coating? Grips have that too. A slosh of one of the mild solvents should take care of that.

Had some OJ and coffee earlier. My suggestion for some on that subject is a bigass bowl of AllBran.

A little satire on buying a whole bunch of shit to solve a problem when aboot two cents worth of glue does the job. A little irony in the mix too.. Glue Grip is sold by our harleydood friends who have a PDF on how-too..

....and what if the slippery grip is one of those heated grips from the likes of BMW or HD?

Actually, this is pretty bad timing BB, as less than two weeks ago I was holding the hand of my grandmother as she passed away.

I use golf grip tape and have not had any issues. Makes for easy removal and clean-up and re-installation

No cost option is to borrow a can from SWMBO - but don't forget to remove any greasy paw-prints when you are done!
