    Hi guys,
On my ride today I found my throttle to be stiffer than usual and not snapping back when let go. It does return, but slowly. What should I look at first?
    Thanks!

AN 8TH GEN....LOL. Sounds like you may need to pull your throttle off and lubricate that puppy. I have done mine a couple times because I used to ride in such shit weather. On a difficulty scale, it is about 1 out of 10.

    8th gen? I don't get it.

Hey, don't underestimate how difficult something might be for me. It'll be difficult by the time I'm done with it. So, what's the procedure for pulling the throttle off and lubing it?

You have to read your post last sentence, then Randy's response.
Q: What should I look into first?
    A: An 8th Gen...

That's terrific, although I'd rather have help with the throttle than the "joke". :playful:

Just came home from a BBQ. Scotches were had. I will give you a play by play to check the lube on the throttle sometime tomorrow. Better yet, is there an email address I can send you copies of the procedure from a manual? Complete with pix. Really, if I can do it following the manuals, then anyone can. Well, maybe my wife and son can't but I can and so can my daughter.

    Update:
Problem solved! Took off the bar-end and the throttle snapped back just like it should. It was the throttle tube working its way out and rubbing. Also, my Grip Puppy was overhanging the bar-end, so I gave it a circumcision..Yippee!

Good to hear. I looked through the manuals last night and couldn't put my finger on the instructions so was just going to go through the process on my bike today and take pix to send to you. Come to think of it, when most of the other things on my honey do list are done today or tomorrow, I just might still do so.

I think you were almost to the point where you could have lubed the throttle which is not a bad idea from time to time anyways.

Does your '03 have a throttle cable adjustment? On my 4th gen there are two nuts that allow you to adjust the slack in cables. Mine was loose so the my throttle wouldn't snap back. Once I adjusted it to where it snapped back regardless of handlebar position I tightened it with two wrenches. Problem solved.

This video does a great job explaining it:
