I had the carbs cleaned and had a bad oring at fuel rail replaced by none other than squirrelman( who did a killer job btw). Got em back on Saturday, put em on Sunday morning after work. Primed the carbs and boom, she came to life for the first time since I had it which is about 2 and a half months. Now I see what people are talking about when they talk about the sound of these bikes, shit sounded like a v8. Anyway, had it fired so I pulled the clutch and put it in first because I was down the road but turns out slave cylinder was frozen, bike just stalled. So pulled the slave took it to work Sunday night, cleaned it all up, got it sliding nice, put it on, still couldnt get the clutch the get pressure. Even used a friends brake bleeding pump... Thinking the slave needs a rebuild kit not a big deal. So here's the slap in the dick... I wanted to start the bike again, why not right it sounds amazing right? Turned the key and no lights. Took the battery out and put it on my trickle charger and in 10 min, green light out on charged... What happened? It ran yesterday but not for very long, enough to check for leaks and whatnot... R/R?

Also like to add I checked the main fuse and fuses at handle bars... All were good. I had the steering turned and locked too for the first time yesterday AFTER I had it running. Possible broken wire perhaps?

Thanks for the thanks, Ron. If you didn't pre-fill the dry carbs by bypassing the fuel pump relay or using a funnel in the fuel line, most likely the battery charge was all used up just to fill the carbs. Trickle chargers are OK for maintaining a battery but not good for recharging a low battery. For that, you need a 1 to 1 1/2 amp proper charger applied for about 8 to 10 hours.

    Good Luck. :eagerness:

I'm suspecting a bad battery. Can I put jumper cables from my car to the bike, bypassing the battery, just to test that the bike will light up? Should work right?

I think he's referring to the green light on his battery charger? Maybe the neutral light though.

Battery was tested and charged, hooked it back up turned the key and everything lit up... So what would have killed my battery? Jumping the relay to fill the carbs for less than a min wouldn't do that would it? I had it started after I did that...

How old is the battery? what type of battery? just because after 10 mins on a trickle charger and the light went out indicates that battery is showing full charge but has no guts in it, some do that.

The battery is a couple months old. Ever Start I think, Wal-Mart battery. Charged now and on the bike. I'll run it a bit tomorrow and go through a charging system check. I did notice on Saturday when I had it running, the r/r was hot but not extremely hot. Is this typical?

Hot R/R is fine, hot R/R connector is not, solder and heatshrink the wires once you have the charging sorted
