Has anyone seen the difference between the tires off of the Yamaha's vs the Honda's? For that matter, the Ducati's? Is the Yamaha that much rougher on tires than the Honda? Is it the rider's riding style?

Chassis geometry is what kills tires. If you are forced to run a setup that is a compromise between tire wear and making the bike handle well enough to stay at the front, something is inherently wrong with the chassis. They could probably change the chassis setup to get the best tire wear, but that would probably mean giving up the couple of tenths necessary to stay at the front.

Rossi is on a mission!. MM should not have tried tat pass, Rossi slammed the door and MM was riding past what was left of his tires. How about Cal on the last turn! Balls to the wall.

Oh Yeah! The Doctor brought it home big time! I'd like to see Crutchlow get more podiums this year, I'd also like to see VR take the championship as well. Although I'm an MM fan and think he's phenomenal, it would be awesome to see one more championship for VR.

For sure, 10 championships. Though I still think MM might take it this year, even though he threw away 20 points this weekend. lol
Rossi has reinvented himself again the last 2 years. He is really proving that an old dog can learn new tricks. And to have his development and race experience is proving an edge. Lorenzo on the same bike but choosing a different tire combo...... I'm sure Rossi did some math during practice and knew he would have a shot near the end of the race. If you look at any season, even in his now later years, at the number of practice laps put in and you will find that he always near or at the top. MM does this too. You need as much info as possible for the team to be at the top of this game.

Agree on all three Gator. He should of let it be since he knew his tires were toast and got second, actually looked like a rookie mistake....huge MM fan as well but if anyone beats him I'm glad it was VR and not Lorentho....:O

I wondered if anyone was even going to talk about this...

MM doing what he used to do in the lighter classes; everyone said he outgrew it, I guess not totally...

There was a lot of talk on race forums about the indecent being Rossi's fault. But MM does not think so nor did race control.
Was Rossi closing the door? Of coarse he was. Was it a safe move? No fucking way was it safe. Could you crash doing it? Very much so. Can you win doing it? Obviously. Perhaps go back a ways and watch the epic door slamming between Rainey and Schwantz. They did it hundreds of times against each other, especially when the win was on the line. Getting gentlemenly at the end of a GP race........... Not going to happen with these cats.

I agree it was a racing incident. MM stuck his nose in about the apex, which Rossi had the line and hit Rossi the first time. There was no door shutting AFAIC. Rossi was on that line clearly. Then they were so close that when Rossi had to flip sides the bike slides a little and takes out MM front. MM was way to close almost touching before the layover. Rossi could not have known how close or didn't have a choice. He had to turn in the other direction.

I got to hand it to both of them for being great riders. MM just screwed up a bit and got bit. Standard racing incident when going for the flag.

That was an amazing finish. I recorded it and showed it to my wife, with a little commentary. She really got into it. Looks like we'll be taking a few trips to SIR this summer.

Rossi did have the line. Did he have to flip on the line like he did? No way, a wider flip would be faster through the corner for sure. That is what I call slamming the door shut. A definite race to win move. I think the lesson MM alludes to in the above article is that when the win is in sight all bets are off and the guy behind is responsible to NOT get his front wheel hit. Expect the lead racer to shut the door. There was 1.5 laps to go and I think MM knew he did not have the pace and was just desperate to do something and made a bad decision. 2nd place would have been much better.

Another point of view. More like the way I saw it.

Of course the Victor gets the spoils!!..........[IMG]

This is going to be a good season. There are several guys that can win races and fight for the championship.

Marquez broke his finger in a dirt track training accident this past week...questionable for Jerez. With Marquez(potentially) and Pedrosa out, and Jorge missing in action, this season isn't going to be nearly as good as it appeared before it started. Moto2 and Moto3 have also been kind of lacking.......If you're not big a sniffer of the Rossi cod piece, then this year could be somewhat of a disappointment up to this point.
