6th-Gen VFR Newbie here and hello!

A quickie intro and hope it passes muster:

Long-time rider for 35 years(52 now). Grew up moto-ing(err..endo-ing) with Marty Smith, Bob Hannah and too many "On Any Sunday" VHS tapes replays. Owned the gamut from XR's, YZ's, RM's, Seca's, GPz's, RD400's and Ninjas back in my hey-days of Immortality.

And here's where I went askew:

I bought a new '06 Honda VTX 1300 Custom V-Twin off the showroom. I bought in to black leather, chrome-fever. "Blat-blat" shorty exhausts and a chrome queen, i.e. s poor-man's Metric Harley. You know what I mean. No offense to cruisers but I just didn't feel the love at this stage in my life yet. I wasn't ready to thump and throb not leaning just yet.

Then my neighbor picked up a 5th Gen and I rode it several times. Used to inline-fours I was hooked.
Up on Trader it went and sold quickly to a cop for his wife. Yeah.

3 weeks ago a local "affluent" seller listed his '08 w/ABS on Trader to make room for his "wife's new Porsche Macan SUV". Again, yeah. Nailed it down immediately. Haggled it down to barely $200 off as expected. It's a VFR.

    So here she is:

    '08 VFR800A (ABS)
Box-stock except for Heli-bars and trimmed seat. No rear factory seat cowl but can live with it.
    20,500 mi.
All service records and current. V-Tec valve adj and fresh synthetic.
    New nubbed Metzeler ME880's.
    Factory hard bags/brackets.

Did I pay a premium for pristine? You betcha. I was prepared to take the hit.
6900.00 USD. Worth every penny from an anal car-collecting owner who never rode it.

Thanks for accepting me on the forum, guys. I hope I contribute and learn a lot more, coming off air/water-cooled inline fours. I do prefer the cam gear-whine of the earlier Gens.

    Thanks.

    Looks fantastic, great choice!

Curious when you say "trimmed seat"? Do you mean a top layer of foam shaved off to lower it a bit / adjust seating position? Inquiring minds want to know!

Yes, top layer professionally shaved and contoured. You can't tell it's been modded.

Welcome to The World Viffer-Sweeper! Congratulations on your acquisition and kudos for posting pics on your intro post. Where in SoCal are you located? Trying to corral LA and OC members so we can get another Meet, Greet and Eat ride soon.

    Cheers

I'm in South OC, ride the Ortega and to Cooks Corner for cheeseburgers lately.
Good eye on the FD RX-7 in garage, Winter. Single-divorced guys keep their fun toys. Bike license plate frame reads: "No wife happy life". :)

The usual Ortega Hwy 8am crowd is full leather knee and elbow-pucked Ducati, Aprila and YZF RM1's on slicks, but I tag along tail-end. I'm in it for the ride, not to set personal best timed records or become a canyon wall ketchup spot.

PM me and let's ride sometime, guys. :smile-new:

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! Took a ride up PCH yesterday to Dana Point Harbor and the coastal resorts in the OC.

Great ride and yeah I think it's time for the fender eliminator kit. Any suggested ones?
