    Well,

After a few years of a Harley Road King I just purchased a new, 2013 VFR. I found this one at a dealer that was almost 300 miles from home, so the ride home took care f the engine break-in. Going in, I expected to raise the handlebars and the ride home did nothing to convince me otherwise, so I wanted to solicit opinions here on the Helibars (and others risers). Specifically, is there anyone that regrets installing them? Once installed, are they a "kluge" or do they look like they belong on the bike. I like things done "right", so I wanted to see is there are any regrets out there.

    Thanks,

The Helibars are great. No regrets. also, imho they seem to make the bike handle better, in that you have more leverage.

Good luck and enjoy your new bike. Pics?

I don't think they are a kluge at all. I doubt if most people would ever notice they were not stock bars.

They don't give you a huge amount of relief, but then, it is a sport touring bike, not an ST or BMW R1200.

I am very happy with mine. Position is still more aggressive then an FJR.

I have the Heli's installed and of the dozens (rode with 40 the other day) who have looked at the bike only one person has noticed. I like them, and believe they let me grab the bike buy the throat better.:sneakiness:

Enjoy this bike they do grow on you.

I had a 60 mph (100kph) top gear roll on with a Triumph Rocket 2.3 litre Sunday, and they are the torque king. Neck and neck till 90 mph then the VFR just walked away.
Really suprised me, gotta love that.

I have the Speigler bars setup on my 1200. Makes the bike a whole lot more comfortable. You use the stock brake/clutch cables. Height is adjustable by rotating the bars. I'd recommend them. Just another option.

I have Helibars on my CBR and like them, but have no plans to put them on the VFR. I don't think it needs them.

Coming from a Road King, your body and muscles just aren't used to the VFR riding position. I'd ride it for 2 or 3k as is before you decide on Helibars. The VFR is quite comfortable once your body adjusts.

Black is the only color they made for 2013 in the US....2012's are blue and 2010's are red.

    Congrats!!!

Most engines these days don't really need of a break in period if any at all. Tolerances in the machining are so much better than they were many years ago.

As long as you're not hammering it for the first couple hundred miles, you're good to go.

Look into Convertibars. I think you can get a big discount on them right now because they are beta testing their bars for the VFR1200. Most adjustable bars on the market. I just installed a set to my VFR800 - but they are the older version - still extremely adjustable and can easily be upgraded with the new version of the bars. :)

Here's some shots of mine - I am almost finished the installation here.
