My carbs were leaking on my 91 from the float bowls on start up after the winter so I took them off and replaced the gaskets. When I fired her only three of the slides were opening, the front left one seems stuck? Anyone have an idea where to look to fix this issue? 3rd gen 004.jpg

I will pull it apart and have a look for a tear, I did have the slides out and noticed the sealing surface of the diaphragm under the cap seems to be shrunk up a bit from where it seals. To bad its one of the front carb's or I wouldn't have to pull them again, rats!

make sure you use air to make the slides rise while they are on the work bench. There is a T-fitting at the back of them, this is where you do your blowing, they should all rise up this way, if they dont, you have a torn/improperly installed diaphram. Cheers

It's easy to install the diaphrams improperly in their grooves, so always test as ridevfr suggests before installation !!

Your bowl gaskets weren't leaking b4 storage, right ?? So why are they leaking now ?? SHRINKAGE !!

The seals shrink during storage and dry out, but a few hours exposure to fresh fuel usually swells them up, and they seal fine again. So you needed to wait a few hours, and you probaBly didn't need to remove the carbs at all. Feel better now ?? :homer:

Thanks guys, Will get it sorted out. I already had some bowl gaskets and some new rubber carb boots so I just went ahead and did both along with a cleaning, no doubt I screwed up a diaphragm.:tranquillity:
