Not sure that I should join this party, I could be way too straight!

I'm running Metzeler Z8s and they're 80% done for after about 5000km. 95% of that was in "play" mode channelling my inner Joey Dunlop. Great ride and traction and good 'feel'. The back is flattening off now and the front has developed a bit of shoulder. However they're being destroyed for a good cause.

metzler makes a good tire for for, my poor leg is better today. made a too sharp turn, I got to learn not to do that with this bike its just too dam heavy. I am running the m5-kind of a soft tire, too soft for a rear of a vfr.

Never check your tire pressures or what? I have about roughly 8300 miles on my Bridgestone Battlax S20 which is borderline track tire and it still has about 40% of meat left. For me i dont ever compromise tires for price (although there is a limit) I'm pretty happy with the performance of these S20's and price is good too.... though i have been eyeballing the new Dunlop Q3's

Saw this sign the other day and this thread made me remember it.

"So let me get this right. You have a $3000 AR 15 and you going to put a $45 optic on it?"

I don't think the comparison is valid, perhaps the guy really see's good who knows. the VFR is not a pure sport bike, so putting sport bike tires on is most likely a waste. In fact I have never even tried a sport touring tire yet, Guess it is time to do that. STT tires also seem better in rain and perhaps gravel and cold weather too. And heavy bikes.

That's it Gator...SOW fits that add perfectly. It is clear he doesn't know what the hell he is talking about, yet people respond to his posts!? take a page from the Amish handbook and shun his stupid ass until he cleans his act up or ships the F out.

Putting pure sport bike tires is all I do on my bike. I only settle for the most traction possible, mileage be damned!

Idunno.... I thought that and bought that, but I've had pilot power's, and pilot power 3's get vulcanized and squirrelly like any other tire. and the shinko's handle ABSOLUTELY as nice until after 1250 miles. then I think the power3 edges out for the next bit, but after 2500? when the tire really starts to harden up and fatigue from heat cycles, ect? They both will go to hell the same when the tread is getting to it's last legs, so to speak. I'm not doing trackdays (yet) so I don't see the Actual point.

Other than 2X's are 220 delivered to my door...

I can lift my rear tire at nearly all times on shinkos on the front brakes, I'd say they'll get it.
