I had tried everything I could to my 2001 to make it handle more to my liking. Racetech springs and valves, suspension tuning etc. My issues with the handling were that the bike felt heavy, would require extra effort on my part to place the bike where I wanted or change directions quickly. I also had an issue with the rear shock/spring combination, just not right. I had an issue with how the bike reacted if I encountered rough roads and rough corner lines. I was planning to do a couple of track days in a couple of weeks and really did prefer to use the VFR. So I thought I would try the Dougerty Motorsport inserts and 929 shock combination. Installed last week by my local shop, had the suspension set up for me, rode the bike for several hundred miles this weekend on the coast Hwy 1 and coastal hills between San Francisco and Santa Cruz.

Saturday I want out for a one hour ride just to get use to the VFR and its new set of manners. Nice. Then I took out my 2002 Ducati 998. Did the same ride as the VFR. Not that the VFR is a super bike, but I was trying to register my confidence, my comfort, the bikes manners. One of the most interesting feels I got was the bike seemed lighter, more nimble, I was able to place it with confidence where I wanted on the line. Today I took a longer ride and it was just do great to have this bike handle this well. I am very pleased with the result.

The total cost to me including install/tuning was around $1300. Value for money.

Had both my VFR's suspension done by Jamie and I always recommend him to anyone who asks about their VFR suspension changes. Although my 6 Gen was more for commuting/touring, the changes he made were just what I was looking for, so much that when I bought my 5 Gen, he was my first stop. Now that my 5 gen has been setup, it is my go to bike.

which fork kit did you go for? The full replacement internals (with new adjustable rebound caps) or Jamie's fork refurb service?

I purchased the full replacement internals with separate caps for compression and rebound.

was he quick to responed? I wrote him, told him I was ready to buy and gave him my weight and riding habits, but has not yet heard back.

how long did it take for him to ship the parts to you once you placed the order? I'm not too keen on paying the better part of grand to someone who doesn't return emails.

@ HellFishTat. Jamie's responses remind me of a good guy running a one man shop. I just bet that he is under a load of pre-track season orders and demands. That said, I ordered on the 13th Jan, the kit and shock were ready to ship and be paid for on 27th Jan but he did not actually ship until the middle of the next month. Jamie repeatedly stated to me that the delay in shipment was due to the snowfall amounts and FedX not doing their regular pickups, I think he finally had such a backlog that he had to drop off himself to get his product shipped. I checked the snowfall at the time, it was real. I would recommend that you call him also if you have not already done.

On the product side, I just returned from two track days, Monday and Tuesday of this week. Ran with the B's and have to say, I am extremely pleased with the handling of my bike, a huge improvement and well worth the $ and order to install time.

He's normally very quick and reliable. He has been away recently so he may just be clearing a backlog of emails. During my install (929 shock and front fork kit), I had lots of questions (since it was the first time I had done a suspension upgrade). Jamie usually got back to me within 24 hours - even with the time difference to UK, and his after-sales support via email was first rate. Hope this helps.

I wrote him again. Maybe he's taking some time off.

I ordered a 929 converted shock for my 5th gen VFR and it took almost 3 months to get the order fulfilled but he did finally make good on his word. I can tell he runs this business on the side and for the price you have to allow some leeway so that Jamie can take care of other business.

I ordered my 929 shock almost a year ago now, and while I paid for the rush service, it got here in less than 2 weeks. I had no problem with communication or getting the item, except for the post office being the lazy assholes they are. But Jamie refunded my shipping since it didn't get here in 2 days. Hopefully he got his money back as the shipper.

All in all, I would highly recommend doing business with Jamie.

I actually had Jamie do my BMW F800GS and I am pleased with the result. The price was more than was quoted as the installed cost, but it wasn't an unfair price, just more than the original quote.

Jamie's the best, IMO. I got the 929 shock for my 5th gen & shipping was quick. However I missed the 1st drop-off & the shock got sent back to him. He sent it out again, free of charge even when I insisted on paying for the 2nd shipping. Can't beat Jamie's dedication.

Ok, can anyone give me Jamie's contact information? He sounds like the guy to talk to.
