Thinking about getting a Harbor Freight lift tomorrow. Parking lot sale $300. I'm looking at my VF700F and trying to figure out the best place to put tie-downs. Maybe around the lower fork and on top of the fork brace? Any Ideas?
I have the HF lift also and it works very well. I changed out the front clamp for a HF roll-on chock. That helps with the stability of the bike, and then I just put a couple tie downs to the handlebar ends. There's no pressure, it's just to add some more stability. I've had my step son's HD Street Glide on the lift with no issues. I'd like to have the air lift pump, but we don't always have a choice. When I went to look at one, and had the coupon, the only one they had had a bent pump shaft and didn't work very well. I got the thing for less than $250. I took the pump off and took it apart. The pump shaft was pretty easy to straighten so I was back in business with no more money spent. It sure beats having to squat down, or lie down, to work on the bottom part of the bike.
Good call FJ Was on my knees squatting down peeling off the 5 year old rim taps, had to use a freekin heat gun, stood up and could hardley walk....need a lift fer sure, especially for oil changes.
Holy crap squirrelman, you're right- 320 lbs. It's going to take at least 4 of those HF girls to load it into my truck. I'm glad it had "retractable casters".
I got it together and gave it a try. I decided to write it up on my blog which you "gentlemen" never comment on... I'm diggin' it.
FJ, never heard anyone use MY saying...funny. Rob ..you suck... Just jealous, thats all. I really.. really want one, if I cant get the days off for WSB I just may get me one of them there's.
I haven't heard/used the phrase "cool beans" since I was smoking a joint back in HS. And yea, it was a joint or a doobie, not a blunt.
