So today I took out my new purchase 2006 vfr 800. It seems rough almost feels like a miss..idles fine...my k12 00 is so much smoother...Is it just the v4 way to be rougher than an in line 4? Wondering if it needs a tune up..tks

Hard to say without knowing what your rough is ?

I do know from riding a friends K1300S back to back with my Gen5 its IL4 feels initially smoother but found over distance the slight tingle it had was incremently more annoying, where as I like the VFRs v4 type of vibration regardless how long I ride.

6th gens run a little rough under 3K rpm until you get a PowerCommander. The V4's never sound like a hot I4, but they pull like crazy. Whole different firing order and balance. I had Vance and Hines pipes on my 83 and it always sounded different.

    Rough?
My VFR is the smoothest motorcycle I have ever ridden.

My 2002 is certainly not rough. It doesn't have the same continuous exhaust note that your standard inline 4 has, but every I4 I've tried has had some buzzing or vibration at certain RPMs. Like Alaskan said, my VFR is the smoothest motorcycle I've ever ridden.
