I have a frustrating experience in the last couple of days. Someone locally was selling a new set of panniers for a vfr1200. We agreed on a price. I wanted to pick them up soon after the deal was made over the phone. He told me they were safe and no rush to pick them up,he trusted me not to back out of the deal I stayed in contact with him through out the week to make sure the deal was good. The day before I was to pick them up he texts me and said he decided to keep the bike so deal is off. I text him back to find out what was going on.......no reply. Well today I get a text from the seller,if I still would want to buy them.Well now I'm pissed off. I don't like being screwed around. I offered less then our original deal, since he broke off the first deal, and didn't honor his word. He can't understand why I'm pissed. I believe someone offered him more then me, after our deal, and backed out. So now he figures ill take them. Sorry pal,I don't operate like that. You don't screw people around and then come back, when things don't work out. Stick to your word, honor a deal even if it's verbal. I just wanted to vent.Sorry for the long post.
Venting is good - I do it too. I have had some bad buying experiences myself. A lot of people out there seem to lack basic common decency. My philosophy is to keep my side of the street clean and avoid those who don't. Take care.
I think I saw those panniers on Kijiji ... that sucks dude. Are these the ones? http://www.kijiji.ca/v-sport-touring/winnipeg/side-bags-for-vfr1200/1049357154?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
Yes sir, those are them. I wouldn't buy them from him now,no matter how good of a deal they were. He missed that sale from his own stupidity. I don't have much patience for stupidity
You were right to pass on those. Jesus, that guy was a dick. Besides, you can find them cheaper elsewhere if you are patient.
No deal DICKHEAD. If your word isn't set in gold FU. JMO. How's that fer venting? Just went through this a few days ago with my stock rear wheel, guess mommy and daddy (if there was one) dont teach no lying, no stealing and your word is your bond. Sad state of ignorance out there. :O
I hate doing deals like that. It is best to not talk money until you're on site to purchase. That way the deal is done and no drama or anxiety. I would have handled it the same way you did.
Its OK SQ. Some peeps still like you...kinda....a little bit..., well maybe when drinking or smoking or something like that. I don't have you on my ignore list.
My company had a client once, get a quote from us and then went shopping around, then they decided to go with a low ball number from another vender. However when they other vendor said they couldn't do the project (not sure of the reason), they sent us a PO with the other guys number and said they were ready to do the project. When I pointed out that the PO was not being accepted because the numbers were not ours, they told me that the other vendor couldn't do the job so they were going to let us do the job with the number they got from the other vendor! I told them that was very nice of them but we'll pass.
So you got "hurtie feelings" BFD. The point is do you want the panniers? How many come up from time to time? Yes there are a lot of a-holes out and they all suck, that's just the real world. Learn how to deal with idiots if they have something you want. You may even get a better deal. The guy wants to sell and needs $$, the other person he thought was going to pay more backed out. This may give you an advantage of getting them at a lower price now. His $$ buyer backed out, your there with cash in hand which may be a little less than first asked. It's his decision to sell cheaper IF he needs the $$. You have the $$ right now. He may have to wait weeks for another buyer. If he doesn't sell cheaper you can still get them for the agreed price from before most likely. I guess it's all about how bad do you want factory panniers. Don't let your pride or what ever ruin the deal. The next set or so may have the same type of seller. So what are you going to do pass on every set?
Cash talks, bullshit walks....show up with less cash in hand and see if he bites.....whats the worst thing that can happen........he says NO ?...... Good luck mang
I did offer it cheaper and he declined. I don't let people screw me around.I don't need anything that bad to crumb to some clown who won't honor his word. I didn't ruin the deal, he did. Call it pride, stubborn, I don't give a $hit. You want to be an asshole, your not getting my money. Put thanks for your opinion......Dr.Phil
I kinda agree. If I really wanted what he had to offer, I would have bought it. But there is also and important lesson for this fool to learn. "He" had a sale and "he" lost it. He needs to know why he lost that sale. Maybe it won't make a difference but then again maybe he will learn not to be an ass in the future. Now if he was from St. James Assinaboia instead of East Kildonan, then maybe I would think different.
