About 10 years ago I purchased a non running (cosmetically mint 3400 miles, original owner) 85 VF500. Various other projects (muscle cars and way to many other bikes) kept this bike on the back burner for way to many years. About one month ago I decided to get it going again. After a couple trial runs, I took it out for about a 120 mile ride today to see the Guy Webster collection up in Ojai, Ca. The bike ran great and got a lot of positive attention which was pretty amazing considering many of the extremely rare bikes that were also present.

Currently working on getting the 86 VFR750 (which I bought in 90) on the road again.

Other than bike bandit does anyone else have a good source for N.O.S. parts

You can try www.davidsilverspares.com. BTW, awesome getting the 500 going, that is the Interceptor that started my love affair with the Honda Interceptor.

Sounds like a good ride. Great job on the 500! I hope to rescue one as well. Good luck on the 86...

Over the last 10 years, I have restored a 1986 VF500F, VFR750F and VF1000R. Honda inventory is what I would always check first and I'm sorry to say that for the hard to find stuff, I had to find it or wait for it on eBay. eBay alone was my best source of the hardest to find parts which include new OEM fairings and even gas tanks. How about posting up some pictures of the 500 and good luck with the 750 restoration.

I have a magic beanstalk growing in my backyard but nobody believes me because I never posted any pics.

Thanks for the potential parts sources. Yes, I will post pics. I may wait until I get the 750 back together. That may be in a week but of course a week usually turns into two weeks. Thanks again.

I also have a vf500, mine is in running condition, presently learning about the uniqueness of the design and finding all the little problems it has. I know it is small things on this one, it has been repainted to silver, as I am fond of the naked look I am hunting a round headlight bucket and fly screen but rest assured I am not cutting any factory pieces or modding the frame, just not a fan of the red white blue paint or the silver it presently is, going with something darker after I get all my parts test fit. On a side note I am glad to see other 500s out there running.

Sounds like you did a good job there and it's commendable to restore older bikes, for sure.

It's a good source plus you can grab a part number and then google it directly.

I used it's sister site "Boats.net" for my Yamaha

here's mine, I just got it running right again a few days ago, I got it new back in 84 in North Carolina, we now live in San Diego... best of luck with it, carbs aren't the most reliable but once you get used to pulling them off to clean and fix, it's not a big deal anymore.

I kind of like the naked look myself but I do have to slap the plastic back on as soon as I get it all cleaned up and waxed. BIKE PIC.jpg
