    Hi all,

Are the bar ends the same from 1990-1997 VFR750's? Trying to find some spares for my 93 and it seems hard as nails to get any.

    Thanks!

Probably a stock parts number on these will tell the tale since the inside diameter of the tube is gonna be the same. Call it amortization or "don't fix what ain't broke".

For a few pesos more an alternative is the Throttlemeister.

    http://throttlemeister.com/

I have the set on the mach 1 91 that have been on the bike for years. Never a problem or failure. Once in a high wind, the parked bike blew over. The force was enough to bend one arm of the Helibars (yes, even more great stuff). The Throttlemeister is billet stainless steel. It got scratched and worked perfectly on the new bars.

Thanks Billy. I looked at the website you linked and the 90-93 has a different part number and price to the 94-97.

Sourcing new mods for a 90-93 is the biggest ball ache I've ever encountered.

I didn't look. The Throttlemeister when I bought mine and installed same was nearly 20 years ago and as I recall, came in one finish.

The bikes especially the 90-93s are hard to get parts for. Not impossible but difficult. Especially fairing parts and those oddly configured headlamps.

I think one of the reasons is that that run of VFRs were "bikes" of the year (s) in almost every motorcycle magazine and review world wide. Except maybe the French or the Harleydood Quarterly. ;)

Yeah fairings are a bit of hard work to find, especially the rear parts. I've contemplated sending my pristine ones off to china so they can injection mould them and sell the whole fairing kit, as they do with just about every other bike in existence. Looking at the bar ends on wemoto.com and so on, they have varying part numbers and look different, but the handlebars are the same throughout the 90-97 range (again, different part numbers though!) so it'd make sense for the fittings to be the same. The only difference I could imagine would be the bolt size maybe?

The consensus at least on this forum seems to be that the Chinese made aftermarket fairings, suck. I agree on the tail sections being hard to find. They are fragile and do not support weight well. Seat cowls in primed fiberglass are available from Airtech. The cowls were Honda aftermarket items as were centerstands.

Try one of the US parts and farklehouses for serial numbers from the repros they publish of microfiche renderings.

The numbers associated with the Throttlemeisters are theirs. They serve a dual purpose as a throttle locking device and weighted bar ends. There may be a UK distributor. I see there is a distributor in OZ and unless the VAT they stick you folks with is so high there may be choices closer to home.

Here we have a sort of taxing political movement called the Tea Party. I don't think they actually want to re-create tossing bales of tea into Boston Harbor. Tea here seems of late only to come in bags and our Environmental Protection Police would be all over that..;)
