Has anyone done this? Seems like it takes up a lot of space. If I disconnect the Evap Purge Control Solenoid and take out all that business, will the bike throw a code?

I am sure someone has done this.....

You're right, I was just kidding.

If you're attempting some comprehensive track build then there are ways to strip the portly extra crap off. But for 90% of the folks out there, stripping the canister off just isn't worth the effort. It's not going to make any difference and only limit the number of people interested in buying your bike later. Enjoy the ride and put your energy into upgrading the suspension or something.

My .02 although I realize you didn't ask for it - sorry

It's just such a PIA getting the oil filter out and around the headers with that huge canister in there. Why!? LOL. Thanks for the .02. I am willing to take any. Mine is missing.

One other thing to think about is the removal of the evap canister will basically make your fuel system venting open . Ok, I admit everything used to have open fuel systems and even if you dont care about releasing gasoline vapors into environment out you should care about letting air "in" because that air has water vapor in it and fuels now have 10% ethanol and ethanol is hygroscopic, (absorbs water).
