I'm not actually new to the forum, just completely forgot my username/password so signed up again!

I've had a project vfr750 for over a year now, it's in my gallery. I've also recently purchased a low mileage (24000 miles) 1993 RC36. Again, there's a pic in my gallery - it's very, very, very red.

Wonder if you guys can help me:

Can I put a shock in from a later model 750 (i.e 94 onwards) as I'm looking at options to replace the soft-as-hell one on my red vfr. Also, can anyone be specific as to which CBR shocks will bolt right in, and/or what mods may be needed if it's not that simple?

I've got some Maxton resprung/revalved forks to go on, but I want to hang fire until the rear is up to scratch as well. So any help would be massively appreciated.

So with the red vfr I've got it booked in tomorrow to have the a/f tested as it has a Remus end pipe on. I want to know where it's at so I can start a few sensible mods, I'm thinking the following:

K&N air filter (may remove the airbox snorkel as well)
Left exit exhaust (got a custom exhaust builder not so far from me so won't need to worry about Sandy bike spares quality etc)
Dynojet kit to suit the above mods
    The shock and fork upgrades
Possibly - if I decide to spend the money - some Harrison billet calipers

Anything else anyone can think of? Let me know!

    John

I would leave the air box and snorkel alone. Comments have been negative from everyone who has tried. Only thing it does is degrade performance and make more noise. Air box is designed to give balanced air flow to each carb/throttle body. Tried it 30 years ago and went back to stock air box, not a performance mod.

I forgot to mention that I'd be getting the bike tuned up on a rolling road with a suitable dynojet (or similar) kit to suit the modifications. I believe that would correct any a/f ratio issues and see the power increased by quite a margin. I stand to be corrected though?

CBR 929 shock conversion will be your easiest option but you'll need someone to machine an adapter for you. Contact Jamie Daugherty through his website below and he can provide you with details and pricing.

Thanks Rollin. Already seen the 929 conversion actually, found it last night. I think with that price and shipping to the UK, it might be more worth my while to spend a bit extra and get a Maxton rear shock. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I'd still email Jamie as he may be willing to sell you the adapter without buying the whole rear shock assembly and then you'd just need to find your own 929 shock which shouldn't be hard as they seem to be pretty plentiful.
