I recently bought a 1987 vfr 700 f2 and it didn't have a battery ground wire. I bought one but cant figure out where it connects to the frame and don't see it in my Haynes manual. Its just a short 6in? piece with a sorta "L" built in , looks like it should run adjacent and parallel to the right side of the battery box but there's nothing there to mount it to. anyone with an idea/picture?

You will have a heavy wire that connects to a stud on the rear right of the motor and another lighter wire from this point to the frame, at least that is what it needs. I will check mine later, but this is how it needs to be to work

Whoa, Bunky !! Starting fluid :mad-new: has seriously bad effects on pistons, piston rings, and cylinder bores as it strips off normal oil that protects from scoring and scuffing and can lead to expensive damage. Fix the damn thing so it runs without resorting to cheap flammable tricks. :potstir:

Your main battery ground wire to engine needs to be as thick as the big wire going to the starter motor.

Another ground attaches to the right hand upper fairing stay.

Wow, my 86 doesn't seem to have these wires. It just has the short heavy wire from the battery to a bolt on the frame.

    See pic.

I'm wondering about those other ground wires. Maybe mine were lost by previous owner?
