    Hi George

    Welcome to the MadHouse:welcome:

It sounds like you are already having fun with your VFR!

It might help us understand what might be wrong if you can supply a bit more information. Why exactly did you end up rebuilding the top end of the bike? You know this stuff but we don't - so don't worry about keeping this sort of post short - before people can offer any practical input we really need a better understanding of the bikes recent history. How many miles? when last serviced? Are there (were there) any MIL codes? Has the bike had any electrical issues? Has the bike had any aftermarket mods applied .. power commander?

I am guessing from the work done it suffered some serious mechanical failure in the top end, but do you know if the bike was running OK before that? Or are you engaged in a Lazarus mission trying to fix a defective bike which has been abandoned by its previous owner?

As for the bike being unwilling to idle, the ECU and a heap of sensor inputs controls pretty much everything on these FI bikes, so you need to ensure all the sensor inputs are connected, likewise hoses for things like the crankcase ventilation on the airbox.

If the problem is associated with only one bank of cylinders then perhaps start by checking things like leads and coil packs for those cylinders are correctly connected up. If they all look OK. then maybe swap components like coil packs plugs etc. over to see if the defect relocates to other cylinders.

    Good luck

hello yeah well i got the bike with a water leak going into oil but it run and rode perfect.
i set up taking top end apart and found out it was the head gaskets so i replaced them and put the bike back together following step by step manuel and videos on youtube i triple checked the timing and even got a friend around to check it was all perfect and spot on.
i set about putting engine back in the bike done that but before i put the panels and everything back on because i thought i would getthem sprayed whilst i was working on the bike. so before i out them back on twhilst the bike is bare just tank and clocks i tryed starting it up used a bit of easy start nothing but if i constanlt spray easy start in there it will fire up or sometimes even through flames out the injectors back towards me through the airbox hence the reason me posting on this forum now as i really need help im just totally lost with what to do now hope thats enough info if need anymore just message me

Are you sure you didn't get the exhaust and intake cams or timings mixed up? Seems like its trying to exhaust out of the intake. I would bet the timing is way off somewhere since it seems the your intake valves are open during combustion.

I'm sure this has been covered somewhere, but is the 800 an interference motor?
