    I used to have one. But my first wife took that when we parted ways. I didn't mind. She had more use for it than I.

    Is that the original re-bar rack ? Can't see much of it in the photo with all the gear - how much weight did you put on it ? No cracking, breaking ? Might make one myself.

    It's the original. It carried about 60lbs from IA to CA and back, I've noticed no fractures yet. The only time we had trouble with it was climbing 15 miles of "unimproved road", which was basically a cow path wide enough for pickups. The road was so lumpy that one of the pins popped free twice, and yet the rack only leaned instead of breaking. That left one support slightly bent, but once we arrived at the lookout tower we stayed the night at I bent it back and carried on. This issue could easily be mitigated by using cotter pins instead of hitch pins.
