Can someone take pictures of the rear seat cowl and the solo seat and how it actually mounts to the bike? My rear seat fairing is toast and if I can't source one soon (bikes getting repainted currently) I may need to have the part restored. Painter/body guy doesn't know off hand.

Also how do the VINs work on a VFR? Say if the vin ended with RC26something0000000086, would that mean it's actually #86 of the production line?

How 'bout YOU snap some close-ups of your rear seat fairing damage and post up........... ?

    :homer:

Lots of cheap, easy plastic or fiberglass fixes--but not quite original-quality--have been improvised over the years by necessity. Or just find a shop that can plastic-weld. Never discard any OEM plastic as it may be needed for a patch later.

Yes, VINs are in sequential #s. Your #86 probably within first month of production.

Because its at the shop and I'm at work. Plus I was looking for a clean one so I know exactly what I'm missing. Already found a close up and it looks like the top rear mount, those two below that and the slots close to the fuel tank are trashed or possibly unrepairable.

Was hoping I didn't have to resort to aftermarket, I was hoping to keep it original as possible.

So my girl is one of the first 100 made? May not actually be valuable in a collectors sense, but that's pretty damn cool.

Did you still need those side covers btw? The painter just finally got to separating what's good and all, so I was gonna pick those up in the next few days or so

All of the panels on these bikes are repairable. It's just plastic, if you know what your doing, you can do anything. The back of my tail broke off and was hanging by the brake wires and the 2 round mounting points were broken off. All pretty common on these bikes and all repairable.

I'm not sure what pictures you need, but here is a quick one of a tail. The round tabs on the sides have rubber bushings that fit inside the holes, plus a metal sleeve. That way you can tighten the bolt against the sleeve and the actual tail panel can still move and flex slightly.

The only source for repro tail pieces that I know of is airtech.
