Totally new to Honda bikes, but not quite to bikes in general...

    Greetings, ladies and gentlemen.

I'm quite proud to say that I just took delivery of my very first Honda bike! It's a 2006 VFR800A that I recently purchased from my brother. I know it has been WELL taken care of, and it has <prepare yourselves> less than 3,000 miles on it.

I already have the Honda factory saddlebags/panniers, Zero Gravity Double Bubble windscreen, mirror extenders (since I'm on the slightly tall side) and Corbin Gunfighter & Lady saddle (all black leather, no welting) ready to be installed this weekend! Not to mention both a Bully alarm disc lock and Bully grip lock to, hopefully, protect and keep my new bike as mine for a loooong time to come.

I'm not necessarily new to bikes or quality forums, such as this, but I'm absolutely looking forward to learning a lot from all of you much more experienced VFR riders! Any and all feedback is always welcomed. I'm happy to be a new part of such a great riding community!

(I apologize for these poor garage photos, but I was simply too excited to take them even though the bike was delivered ridiculously late at night. :tranquillity: )

Very nice. Barely broken in. Since you're new to Honda, what you will learn is that they are at the top of the ladder when it comes to durability, reliability and longevity. Congratulations and welcome to the forum.

    Thanks, stewartj239!

Based on at least one previous experience I've had, stepping up in durability, reliability and longevity is precisely why I'm here. I look to keep this VFR on the road for at least a few decades to come.

Bully Grip Lock, never heard of it. Just saw pictures, so when it's on is it pulling the front brake lever?
    Thanks

    Thank you, duccmann.

Funny you should mention ATGATT. I got the barely broken in bike, a jacket, full helmet and gloves all for a fantastic family/bro discount. Love that guy. HA!
I have to agree with you - I knew the bike was a pearl white color, but now seeing this paint in person it's gorgeous.

As for the locks, here are the specific links to the products I bought...

    Bully Alarm Disc Lock
    Bully Grip Lock

Concerning the Grip Lock, as it's recommended to use, it does indeed lock the brake lever, but without putting pressure on it. It just locks the brake lever in an "at-rest" position. Plus, it'll kinda serve as a reminder to my old ass that I have to take the disc lock off too. :biggrin-new:

I am confident you will find the first sentence to be true and your second sentence is totally doable. Over the years, I have owned more bikes than I can count, as well as all of the brands - dirt and street. From my own personal experience, Honda is at the top of the heap and I have been brand loyal to them for at least the last 10+ years because of it. Post up some better pics once you have them.

    Awesome. That's great to hear!

I'll absolutely post some better photos, once I get her all washed and ready to go.

Snapped a pic tonight that I kinda like.

In front of a burned out local landmark in Large, PA; thought I'd, finally, get around to sharing a better photo...
