I just bought a pair of fork seals from a David Silver Spares in the UK. They were listed as genuine Honda, but when they arrived they are HRC (Honda Racing Corporation), in Honda packaging, and say 'only for track use'. Are they any different from the normal Honda stuff and is it just a labelling thing? Or should I get another set from the main dealer?

Your bike will go much faster and handle better if you use these seals.
They will retain fork oil at least as well as the standard ones though.

I have seen those seals on the David Silver website, could be ex racing stocks they have managed to pick up cheap. I agree that there shouldn't be any reason why they wont work. . Think there was a discussion on VFR Club about it.

If you pm Jamie Daugherty he should be able to give you the scoop. He is all knowing when it comes to VFR suspension.

The Upgraded VFR front end with drop-out axle ( raced in '86 Daytona AMA) might have different-sized seals ???? Pretty sure those forks came from HRC not the mass-production factory. They appeared in the Honda VFR promotional brochure in 1986, if i remember....

Seems most seals are identified in their mm sizes if you look for the fine print, and a magnifier does help.

Those seals are just fine, no problem using them for typical street riding. Possibly they could start leaking/weeping a bit sooner than the normal 51490 seals but if you keep your bike clean I'm sure they will last for several years without any problems.

Someone should ask Jamie whether he knows the details of the special Daytona AMA forks. The superforks were illustrated in both '86 and '87 VFR sales catalogs.

    Similar to RC-30 ?
