This particular outfit was particularly bad. One guy in my club bought a brand new Honda from them. It blew up. They screwed him around forever. What they didn't figure was he was in the top eschalon of Microsoft's game programmers and had pesos enough to sic lawyers on the dealership. The parts husband and wifey team had the attitude that they were doing anyone a favor by just existing. They had two service managers who were honest guys and fired both of them for not "producing."

This dealership in name only was the first Honda dealer in the City of Seattle and I think in the State of Washington.

Ya got a point there with dealerships and the good ones are rare.

Now we will hear the hue and cry of the offended who will tell us we are full of shit.. ;)

Been lucky here in San Diego. Found a shop that goes the extra mile... Went in for a tire change & the guy noticed the screws on the brake & clutch reservoirs were corroding. While they were changing the tire he replaced them with stainless. No charge. This is the kind of thing that people notice.

Wow... I was just talking about the order process at any dealer. It works just like I said... The part's either available or not, and you're either willing to pay the price or not. It is then ordered from a stocking warehouse, typically the closest. I agree that the oem reg/rect is way too Fucking expensive, but the dealership needs to make some profit on what American Honda wants them to pay for one.

Well it's been 5 months without a problem, albeit it spent two of those months parked while I was healing up from a crash. So far so good...

Bought one too. It's still in the box under the seat. If it's only good for a few miles so be it. That OEM the crapped oot in BC cost me around a thousand bucks by the time I got home. Twelve pesos and change is cheap.

Honda doesn't make rec/regs they build and assemble bikes, most likely they get the rec/regs made in China, India or Thialand , probably pay $1.50 each for them because of the numbers they buy

OEM parts and assemblies are shopped out to contractors. One example of a crossover is Gerbings. The founder was a subcontractor machine shop for Boeing. He made or wired a pair of heated gloves for a friend and most of the rest is history, some PR and a bit of the usual hyperbole.. :)

Honda just as in the example does not "make" each and every part of any bike. If this were the case Honda would even be in the bolt and nut business.

This may be another "bike" story. Who knows..?

A guy in UK found a Triumph Saint in a crate. Assembled it and entered it in a concours. He got disqualified because of some part that the judges claimed to not be OEM. My call is that on the day the bike was made. Bertie didn't have that particular part so Triumph sourced the part from Alf.

The R/Rs were shit wherever they were made. For 12 pesos if the ones from China only get ya from wherever to wherever they are good.

Not much sense in telling me aboot a shit dealer that is oot of business. The nearest stocking warehouse for this dealership (University Honda) is and was Torrance. Parts were ordered by phone. I stood there and watched the asshole behind the counter make the call. When he told me that Torrance did not have the part in stock (Big fucking surprise) I asked him to call another stocking warehouse. The resonse io that was almost enough to pull the fucker over the counter and have a come to meet Jesus session.

I know you would like to think that all this shit works all the time. It doesn't.

At the end of the day you have just as good a chance of a cheap rec/reg lasting as you do with one that costs an arm and a leg, only thing that is different is the price

I would say bullshit to that one.........on R/Rs you get what you pay for and the OEMs are still junk. At the moment there is only one that is reliable, the FH020AA.
