    BlueGrowler,
When I had my 5th Gen VFR I alway thought it turned slow and was heavy, it was probably just me. When I got my Blackbird the entire cbr1100 forum talked about adding a 6 mm spacer to the top of your shock, therefore making it taller in the rear end and quicker to turn in. Check out the "Blackbird 6mm spacer" on ebay or make your own with a few fender washers. Read up on the Blackbird forum and you will be glad you did. It is a great mod that would work for the VFR. It makes the Blackbird feel 100 lbs lighter.

Also do not hesitate in future to ask aboot the best oil or tires.

If the dude from Kentucky is actually in Tasmania, this could upset the theory that the Tasmanian Devil is extinct.

Billy, you got your animals a bit screwed up, Tassie Devils are not extinct yet, they are suffering badly from some form of cancer that could wipe them out, the Tassie Tiger is supposedly extinct but there is the odd reported sighting, the West Coast is a wilderness area so anything could be living down there, who knows. I think I upset a Tassie bloke on the Supersport forum when he came on the forum looking for a head for his CB900, I shot off a reply that I didn't think there would be a shortage of heads down in Tas, a few of the Aussie blokes picked up on it straight away, the bloke looking for the head came back a week later to say he " just got that" and never posted again, can' win them all :tongue-new:

This is the first time I saw that video. That happened not far from my neck of the woods. As I watched the vid I recognized the road as KY 10. Later when the vehicles were all stopped and the one guy called the sheriff he gave their location as 22 & 10. I have been on that road and at that location several times. Ky 10 is a well-known bike road in NKY. KY 22 is also a really fun road with lots of twisties. In fact, i made that same run and was on 22 heading towards Falmouth when a young kid in a japanese car that had been souped up came up behind me. He rode on my tail so I sped up. So did he. It was actuallly the first time I was on that stretch of 22 and I was not familiar with it. I was thinking about speeding up to outpace the car but it was late November and cold, my tires were nearing the end of their tread and I had not ridden that bike all that much.

My wisdom overcame my ego and I refused to push it. When we reached a straight away, and there was only one, I slowed a little and went to the right of the lane. He accelerated and went by me. I guess he impressed his passengers. I followed at a distance the rest of the way into Falmouth.

All of that to say, ride at your own pace--always!

On the off chance you're not familiar with Bogans, they originated in the early '70s in Melbourne and have their own look and a unique style of dancing.

Damn I thought we had the patent on the mullet! As to the dancing, I'm sure this is why Dick Clark never did a show from OZ.

    Truer words were never spoken!

In my first year I hit a tight blind curve too hot & ended up 3 feet into the other lane about 2/3ds of the way through. I thank my lucky stars all the time there was no one coming from the other direction....

It only appears to affect the less fortunate. Glad that never made it to the states.

Ride your own ride. There are no winners and no prize in a race with an idiot in a truck. If the guy wants to be a dick, let him. You live to ride another day.

    Hi Jose,

You are closest to the truth I believe. Remember I came from a CB400 and VStrom neither bike being sports.
It's almost like having to learn to ride all over again going to a relatively sporty VFR.

Looking forward to the new Pilot Road 2 tyres next week. I went for another ride
after reading this about 5 times

After another 200 kilometres of twisty roads I believe I'm making progress. This time I was passed by
a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution towing an empty trailer. Another Tasmanian motorist who fully enters the
other lane to go round corners faster. People are mad down here. Managed to keep up reasonably well.
My rear tyre is breaking traction too easily now so I didn't push to hard.

I actually chalked up the sides of the tyres still an inch of chicken. I really can't see myself removing
    much more on the street.

Unfortaunately, Tassie seems bereft of sport riding/track instructor led motorcycling classes. The closest
I've been able to find is a local motorcycle club who have ride/clinic days. Will make some enquiries.

I thing I learned is that the bike is a lot more capable than I am. If you panic in a corner push on the handlebar the way you want to go, it will respond nicely.

I just recently learned this. I'd rather be able to judge entry speeds but in case you blow it, it's a nice technique to have in the quiver.

It is the basics of counter steering, if I had known that 30 years ago, I wouldn't have wrecked my first 83 VF750!

It works well but you can over do it. I tried pulling up on the outside handle at the same time, got a serious front wheel wobble. In the book "Total Control" by Lee Parks, he says the outside arm should be totally relaxed and in towards the tank.
