I did call on the Orange County bike... getting more info, might pull the trigger. I was hoping for a 1st gen bike, but this one looks great so far (thanks again).

Besides, finding a 1st gen 750 in mint condition is becoming a needle in a haystack. The cams problem must have put a lot of them in the graveyard before their time

Gott love that avatar of yours- who is she!?

The ventura CA bike is not what I have in mind- pretty committed to RWB paint scheme....
Now the Jacksonville one is interesting. Just emailed him. It is a 1st gen bike- which is my sentimental favorite. The cams issue sometimes scares me, but who knows- I might be able to make it happen. trying to get more info and a running video out of both jacksonville and san bernadino--- we'll see who shows faith and sends me some info.

Very cool of you guys to keep searching. I never would have found those...

    Ride on...

How many miles does it have on it? I hope you've talked him down a bit on the price since $3800 is alot of money for that bike in my opinion (unless it is in really great shape with super low mileage)

Being that it is one of the more rare 750cc models and not the more abundant 700cc "tariff beater" models it is worth a bit more but I've seen similar bikes like that selling for $1000 - $1500 less and if you waited until Spring you'll find a much better selection to choose from.

Makes no sense to ever pay more for any VF than for any VFR, even a little scratched and faded. Maybe you'd need a ride to see the differences + a trip up past 125 mph........

I have a sentimental connection to the 1st Gen VF's that would take too long to explain, so a 1st gen model in blue was my 1st choice. It is just too hard to find a low mileage one in perfect shape. Add to it the problem with the cams/valvetrain on the 1st gen models and I have pretty much given up on those.

The 86 VFR in Cali looks like the call. I have some vids of it running and lots of pics now so I am going to move on it. I am not buying it over the 1st gen bikes because it is faster or better (I agree that vrR models are better in any objective measurement), but instead for the reasons that I mention here.

Thanks to all on this thread. I am sure that I will be back looking for some technical assistance--- hopefully not to much
